About The Position

The company is investing in professional management to support continued growth and operational development. As part of this growth, the company is seeking to create a Director of Finance position that will serve as a multi-functional leadership role. The Director of Finance will oversee the accounting team and monthly financial reporting, while working closely with the Director of Operations to monitor daily operations and spending. This position will also be responsible for providing accurate company and divisional cash flow and income projections. The Director of Finance will work closely with senior leadership and the Global CFO on a variety of strategic projects, including new lease and purchase opportunities, financial planning initiatives, and projects designed to support and expand the company’s operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with demonstrated advancement into management-level roles within an agricultural or farming-related business.
  • Work experience must include agricultural farming operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Ability to confidently present information to Board of Directors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Must demonstrate intermediate accounting knowledge and ability to apply this knowledge to real world transactions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Require strong MS Office (Excel), BI reporting tools and ERP Accounting software skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting operations, controls, policy and procedures of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit & Collections and Payroll functions and staff. Provide staff management including: interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Perform standard accounting monthly closing procedures including the review of all monthly journal entries & bank reconciliations for accuracy.
  • Complete and issue timely and complete financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) to be distributed to Management, Owners, Partners and our Bank.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budget including production cost estimates per acre, crop yield and price projections and cash flow statements.
  • Oversee treasury function including the preparation of monthly cash flow projections in order to forecast cash requirements. Actively monitor Linces of Credit projections and term debt payment planning. Prepare monthly borrowing base certificates and monitor debt level for compliance.
  • Actively monitor the farm operations to ensure all divisions are adhering to spending parameters; work with the Director of Operations to design and implement procedures to improve the farming staff performance.
  • Participate in new projects with supporting financial analyses; especially new leases, capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, etc.
  • Establish procedures to ensure Company performance adheres to company's handbook and federal regulations and standards. Modify as needed to mitigate risks and exposures.
