About The Position

The Director of Finance (DOF) is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and oversight for a two‑hotel complex in Mexico City, encompassing both full‑service and select‑service branded hotel operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with local regulations while supporting hotel leadership and ownership. The DOF serves as a key business partner, driving profitability, cost efficiency, and long‑term financial performance across properties with varying operational complexity. This role supports a complex of branded hotels located in Mexico City, operating within a dynamic urban market that serves corporate, business, and transient travelers. The properties are professionally managed and operate under established brand standards, requiring strong financial leadership, disciplined reporting, and effective collaboration with hotel leadership and ownership. The Director of Finance will oversee financial operations across the complex, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistent financial practices. The property is managed by Remington Hospitality, a U.S.-based, third‑party hotel management company with operations across the United States, Caribbean, and Latin America (CALA). Within the CALA region, Remington currently manages branded and independent hotel properties in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the Cayman Islands, with continued growth planned across the region. Remington operates on behalf of ownership groups, combining strong financial discipline, brand compliance, and operational accountability while supporting local teams through a collaborative, performance‑driven culture focused on long‑term success and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish; English proficiency required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Eight (8) years of progressive hotel accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Direct experience overseeing hotel accounting functions, including: Monthly close, accruals, and financial statement preparation; Balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis; Cash management, bank reconciliations, and working capital control
  • Strong knowledge of hotel-specific accounting practices, including: Rooms and food & beverage revenue recognition; Payroll, labor analysis, and cost controls; Fixed assets, depreciation, and capital expenditure tracking
  • Experience supporting both full‑service and select‑service hotel accounting operations, preferably within a multi‑property or complex structure
  • Proven experience preparing and managing annual hotel budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate ownership and management reporting
  • Experience ensuring compliance with Mexican accounting standards, tax regulations (SAT), audits, and statutory reporting
  • Proficiency working with hotel accounting systems and financial reporting tools
  • Strong internal controls mindset with demonstrated audit readiness
  • Candidates must currently reside in Mexico and be fully authorized to work in Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all finance and accounting functions for a two‑hotel complex consisting of one full‑service and one select‑service branded property
  • Act as a strategic advisor to hotel leadership on financial performance, forecasting, and business decisions
  • Support short‑ and long‑term financial planning to maximize profitability and asset value across both operating models
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and month‑end close for both properties
  • Maintain strong internal controls and safeguard hotel assets
  • Ensure compliance with Mexican accounting standards, tax regulations (SAT), labor laws, and ownership requirements
  • Coordinate audits, tax filings, and statutory reporting
  • Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes for both hotels
  • Analyze financial performance and explain variances across full‑service and select‑service operations
  • Identify opportunities to optimize revenue, manage costs, and improve margins
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Support capital expenditure planning, tracking, and reporting
  • Partner with hotel leadership to ensure financial practices support operational goals
  • Provide clear, timely financial insights to ownership and senior leadership
  • Balance financial discipline with operational needs across differing service models
  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting teams across both branded properties
  • Ensure consistency in financial processes, reporting, and controls
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
