About The Position

Tommy’s is looking for a Director of Finance to report directly to our CFO and oversee daily accounting responsibilities and provide analytical financial support to overall strategy initiatives for our Tommy’s Express business entity. This position will oversee and assist with the monthly financial close process and preparation of monthly financial statements, lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process, provide oversight of expenses, and lead Tommy’s Express international expansion through tax, compliance, and currency exchange while creating and maintaining financial policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 10+ years of experience within Finance and Accounting
  • International experience required, specifically within Canada and/or Europe
  • Ability to lead departments and individuals
  • Experience of assurance and/or consulting engagements
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Advanced technical skills and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability and willingness to keep and maintain confidentiality
  • Highly adaptable with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Azure data studio and ability to write SQL query’s is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage financial reporting and produce financial projections for Tommy’s Express
  • Oversee daily finance activity and lead day-to-day accounting team and month-end closing procedures (e.g. journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany balances and allocations)
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements
  • Help ensure accuracy of all accounting and cash flow activities, including gift card fund audits, crossover washing audits, and brand fund audits
  • Create monthly financial reporting to present for leadership
  • Build financial projections and continually work with department leaders to ensure accuracy as updates are needed
  • Develop and lead new international operations including consolidations, tax, currency exchange transactions, and compliance
  • Ensure internal control of financial workflow
  • Gather and interpret information for audits and other projects
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements
  • Develop systems to accommodate rapidly growing needs
  • Analyze trends to reduce financial risks associated with making investment or spending decisions
  • Offer advice to leadership regarding spending and budget questions
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Hire and oversee TX accounting department, including giving direction and delivering periodical evaluations
