About The Position

Emhance is hiring its first Director of Finance to build and own the company's financial function from the ground up. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role: you'll run the day-to-day financial operations of the company — bookkeeping, payroll coordination, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management — while also establishing the systems, tools, and processes that let the company scale as it grows. You'll report directly to company leadership and have full visibility into, and responsibility for, the financial health of the business. This role suits someone who wants deep ownership over a company's finance function without layers of existing process to navigate — because you're the one building it.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations, ideally including time at an early-stage startup
  • Comfort operating without an established finance team or extensive existing infrastructure — you'll build much of it yourself
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, cash flow management, and financial reporting fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with standard accounting and finance tools (e.g., QuickBooks, payroll platforms such as Gusto or Deel, spreadsheet-based modeling)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational instincts
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or equivalent experience is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day bookkeeping and the monthly close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial records
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and customer invoicing
  • Coordinate payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable employment tax and reporting requirements
  • Track cash flow and burn rate, giving leadership a clear, current view of runway at all times
  • Stand up financial systems and tools appropriate for an early-stage company (accounting software, expense management, basic FP&A infrastructure)
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting for company leadership and, as needed, the board
  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax preparers, and other outside financial support as needed
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and modeling to inform key business decisions
  • Assist with fundraising-related financial preparation, including data room support and financial projections, as needed
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax filings, business registrations, and financial recordkeeping requirements
