About The Position

The Director of Finance provides strategic and operational leadership for all financial functions of the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting, financial planning and analysis, budget development, audit coordination, compliance, internal controls, and cash management. The Director of Finance serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of financial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least five (5) years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls.
  • Expert knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to integrity.
  • Ability to work in an office environment with occasional travel as required.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and use office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and oversees the organization’s overall financial strategy, including short- and long-term planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Provides timely, accurate, and meaningful financial analysis, reporting, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Leads the annual operating budget, capital budget, and long-range financial planning processes.
  • Analyzes financial performance, identifies variances, and partners with department leaders to improve results.
  • Oversee all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, revenue accounting, cash management, and purchasing/procurement.
  • Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting.
  • Establishes, maintains, and enforces strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Manages capital expenditures, including tracking, reporting, and compliance with approved budgets.
  • Ensures full compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, filings, and required financial reports.
  • Coordinates and manages internal and external audits, including financial, operational, and regulatory audits.
  • Identifies compliance and financial risks and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Champions a culture of integrity, ethical conduct, and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Oversee financial systems, reporting tools, and software upgrades or implementations.
  • Evaluates processes and implements efficiencies to improve financial accuracy, timeliness, and performance.
  • Supports enterprise-wide initiatives requiring financial analysis or modeling.
  • Provides leadership, direction, coaching, and development for finance-related departments and team members.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating performance, and workforce planning within the finance function.
  • Establishes department goals, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Works collaboratively with operational leaders to support organizational objectives.
