About The Position

The Director of Finance, Canada is responsible for partnering with the general manager & other senior leaders in Canada and the US to drive the business. Provide timely and accurate financial information and business intelligence to support the management teams in sales, profitability analysis, supply chain, and operating costs. Drive margin & profitability growth. Drive the Canadian & finance business agendas including opportunity assessment, information for decision making & bottom-line performance. Ensure that accounting policies and procedures are compliant across the full finance function, including treasury, taxes, reporting, management of insurance claims and support of A/P for Canada. Improve management of working capital. Responsible for Federal and Provincial audits. Accurately forecast business results including monthly & periodic forecasts & budget preparations. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly. This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring 2–3 days onsite per week, with minimal travel within the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of accounting & finance experience
  • Minimum 5 years in management positions, preferably in the food industry.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to use software applications efficiently.
  • Must have good organizational & supervisory skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA preferred.
  • CPA/CA/CMA/CGA, preferred
  • SAP experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Overall ownership and responsibility for integrity of Canada financial information. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
  • Drive profitability & margin improvement & provide financial intelligence to GM & all functions.
  • Improve systems, processes & controls
  • Lead a team of financial analysts
  • Oversee forecasting & budget processes for Canada and work with the US team and the Canadian team to develop forecasts & budgets that drive profitability & support management of the business, as well as supervise and support the manufacturing operation budget process
  • Ensure completion & accuracy of account reconciliations & resolve reconciling items timely
  • Work with Home Office & North America finance teams to implement financial goals & objectives & ensure compliance
  • Responsible for all Treasury reporting for Canada
  • Calculate taxes and prepare reporting
  • Responsible for Federal and Provincial audits
  • Support the A/P and Onbase program for Canada
  • Responsible for year-end audit completion with the corporate chosen auditors and ensuring the timely completion of physical inventory counts for the plant and operations
  • Serve on project teams as required
  • Maintain the general ledger for Canada
  • Additional duties as needed
