About The Position

Zoom Drain has been in the drain and sewer business since 1995, focusing on providing specialized services like drain repairs, cleanings, inspections, septic services, and pump replacements for both residential and commercial customers on a same-day model. The company operates as a national franchise system and company-owned operations, headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, PA, with approximately 70 employees. Zoom Drain is private equity-backed and in an active growth phase, necessitating the development of systems, processes, and functional leadership. The Director of Finance & Accounting will be a strategic financial advisor responsible for leading accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance across Zoom Drain's entities during its scaling phase. This is a hands-on role that encompasses full-cycle accounting, financial systems management, board reporting, and building the company's financial infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Full-cycle accounting ownership.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed or sponsor-owned company, including board and lender reporting.
  • Experience in a franchise organization, including royalty accounting, franchisee reporting, and FDD financial statement preparation.
  • Experience managing an audit.
  • Multi-entity experience, including consolidation and intercompany accounting.
  • Experience building or materially improving financial reporting, controls, and processes.
  • Strong command of financial systems and comfort leading an ERP implementation or migration.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in field services, construction, home services, or another trades-based business.
  • Experience with job costing, labor utilization, and fleet or equipment accounting.
  • Sell-side or buy-side transaction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the financial advisor to the leadership team on strategic planning.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day finance contact for the private equity sponsor.
  • Lead the financial workstreams on each entity (Franchise + Corporate Entity Operations).
  • Own all accounting operations across three legal entities, including AR, AP, general ledger, and month-end close.
  • Own the AR/AP cycles with customers and vendors, including the systems and controls behind them.
  • Own the financial systems, including Sage and Ramp, and lead the evaluation of future systems.
  • Build and lead the finance team, starting with 1-2 direct reports.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and board reporting.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
  • Build revenue and expense tracking that holds up across entities.
  • Analyze profitability, cost, and trend data to support operating decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Manage the annual audit and external accounting relationships.
  • Manage the company's insurance program and coverage compliance.
  • Build the internal controls, policies, and delegations of authority.
