About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Facilities and HVAC, the Directors of Facilities (Director 2) manage the day-to-day operations of the University’s Physical Plant at their respective campus location and ensure continued and effective function in support of academic, administrative and student services. In addition, the Directors manage and sustain high quality facilities operations that support the University’s fundamental mission of teaching, learning and research. The Directors are responsible for all Facilities planning and service delivery across trades, housekeeping and grounds, and collaborate with Transportation and Events to support campus logistics and operational readiness. Employees are expected to work on site at one of the Kean campus locations. One position is primarily based at the Jersey City location and the other is at the main campus in Union. These positions require travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. These positions are considered essential and assist the Assistant Vice President and Vice President with response in crisis, weather and emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Four years of professional experience with direct involvement in facilities planning, operations, physical plant, budgeting, maintenance RFP’s and emergency response.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local building code requirements.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to perform essential functions that require physical activity including, but not limited to: driving, walking long and short distances, standing for long durations of time outdoors/indoors, bending and/or stooping, occasionally lifting/carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds and climbing stairs.
  • Must establish a principal residence in New Jersey within 365 days of the effective date of hire.
