About The Position

The Director of Facilities is a full-time, 12-month administrative position responsible for the overall management and strategic planning of facilities for the school district. This role requires previous facilities management experience, with special consideration given to those with school-based experience. The Director will oversee all building mechanical systems, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (including OSHA and DEEP), manage personnel, and handle budgeting procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, facilities management, construction management, architecture, or related field.
Minimum five (5) years' experience in facilities and operational oversight, preferably in public education; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
High levels of computer and communication skills.
Working knowledge of finance and administration.
Supervisory experience required.
Knowledge of all building mechanical systems.
Knowledge of Federal and State compliance with applicable regulations and regulatory bodies, such as OSHA and DEEP.
Knowledge of personnel management.
Experience with budgeting procedures.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management plan aligned with the district's goals and objectives.
Develop and maintain long-range facilities and equipment plans for the District, including a 10-year capital construction plan.
Participate in the planning, development, construction, and close-out phases of capital construction projects, including bidding, scheduling, and coordination.
Understand how State and Federal grants operate for funding capital projects.
Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, repairs, and renovations for school buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Develop, monitor, and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities, health, and safety, including asbestos, water quality testing, radon, fire and life safety, boilers and HVAC equipment, vehicle and equipment inspections and registrations, indoor air quality, and security infrastructure.
Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and service providers to maintain facilities efficiently and oversee vendor work for quality outcomes.
Optimize space utilization, including classroom allocation, event planning, and facility scheduling, and oversee community use of school buildings.
Implement sustainable practices to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
Develop and oversee emergency response plans for facilities in coordination with local officials.
Serve as the point of contact for the Superintendent during weather-related incidents.
Supervise, evaluate, manage, and provide staff development and training to the maintenance and custodial staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
