About The Position

This Director of Facilities and Operations reports to and is evaluated by the Headmaster and oversees matters relating to the development and stewardship of safe, clean, efficient, and functional facilities and grounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Minimum of five years of business experience
  • Experience in Construction and/or Project Management
  • A strong, clear Christian testimony (Ephesians 4:1)
  • A lifestyle of biblical integrity (1 Peter 3:16)
  • Believe and actively support the OCS Parent Covenant, Statement of Faith, Statement on Marriage and Sexuality, Statement on Diversity and Core Values (all attached)
  • Have a conviction that God has called him/her to Christian School teaching (Romans 12:7)
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (1 Peter 5:2)
  • Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters
  • Actively involved in church (Hebrews 10:24-25)
  • Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with interpersonal conflict

Responsibilities

  • Model victorious Christian living to students, staff, and families
  • Pray for students, parents, staff, and the entire OCS community
  • Implement positive strategies to develop Christian character in the facilities staff
  • Provide spiritual leadership for Facilities staff
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures governing the operation of the school
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all policies, procedures, and handbooks
  • Respect professional ethics that require confidentiality concerning the sharing of information about children, parents, or staff
  • Attends and arrives punctually to scheduled devotional, committee, and faculty meetings
  • Maintains professional dress and appearance as specified in the Employee Handbook
  • Represents the school favorably and professionally to its constituency
  • Maintain professional and effective relationships with the administrative team
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate the performance of Facilities staff
  • Participate in the Board Building and Grounds Committee meetings and other special meetings as requested by the Board or Headmaster
  • Prepare an annual facilities budget in coordination with the Headmaster and Director of Finance
  • Work with the Board and Headmaster to create and implement the OCS master plan
  • Create, implement, and maintain a facilities maintenance schedule, including painting and long-term capital expenditures such as HVAC unit replacement, roof replacement, and vehicle replacement
  • Work with the Director of Finance to ensure adequate property insurance coverage and claim
  • Oversee the hiring of all facilities contractors (Plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, etc.)
  • Work with the Admin team to maximize facilities use
  • Oversee the campus beautification committee to ensure the aesthetic appeal of the OCS campus, including maintenance of signage and branding
  • Work with building Principals to create efficient and safe carpool routes and procedures
  • Triage building repairs, determining which can be done in-house and which should be contracted to outside vendors
  • Inspect all maintenance projects
  • Schedule and oversee all remodel projects
  • Hire and oversee building janitorial service vendors
  • Manage the ordering of janitorial supplies and inventory control
  • Work with the Board and Administration is the design of new construction
  • Work with contracted construction manager and contractors to ensure completion of new facilities projects
  • Maintain blueprints and construction documents
  • Hire and oversee a qualified landscape company to carry out mowing, edging, and other related grounds maintenance
  • Ensure campus is clean and free of litter
  • Oversee irrigation and water wells
  • Oversee maintenance of parking lots
  • Oversee all OCS transportation procedures, including regular vehicle maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and efficient storage space for all vehicles
  • Develop a schedule and procedure for fueling all vehicles
  • Oversee bus scheduling
  • Oversee magnetic door locks, security cameras, and conventional door locks
  • Manage the school’s SRO and ensure his/her daily schedule
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state health and safety laws as they pertain to facilities
  • Work with the Headmaster to establish emergency management procedures
  • Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible. (Back to School Worship night, Big Bash, school trips, Saints 5K, Drama production, Athletic Events, Band performances, Fine Arts night, Carnivals, etc.)
  • Works as an Administrator on duty throughout the year as needed
  • Treats all school-owned technology (hardware and software) with respect, care, professionalism, and in accordance with the Technology Use Agreement
  • Oversee the hot lunch program, including the selection of a hot-lunch vendor
  • Evaluate the hot lunch vendor and communicate deficiencies or areas of improvement
  • Assist Principals in developing efficient lunch procedures
