About The Position

The Director of Expanded Learning Programs provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and quality assurance for ICAN's expanded learning initiatives, including school-based after-school, extended day, summer learning, academic intervention, enrichment, and youth development programs. This position is responsible for the successful implementation of programs across multiple school sites, ensuring high-quality programming, strong student outcomes, operational excellence, and compliance with all organizational, district, and funding requirements. The Director serves as the primary liaison between ICAN and school district partners, fostering collaborative relationships and ensuring alignment with district priorities and program goals. This position provides leadership and supervision to Program Managers, Site Supervisors, and a large team of full-time and part-time staff while supporting the growth and sustainability of expanded learning opportunities for students and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Educational Leadership, Youth Development, Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in youth-serving, educational, expanded learning, after-school, or community-based programs.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience managing supervisors, managers, coordinators, or other leadership-level staff.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-site programs and managing large teams.
  • Experience developing and implementing operational systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working in partnership with public school districts and educational stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for expanded learning programs across multiple school sites.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure high-quality academic, enrichment, and social-emotional learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with school district leadership and community partners to support program goals and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure alignment of program services with district priorities, organizational objectives, and funding requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for program growth, innovation, and expansion.
  • Oversee daily operations and program implementation across all assigned sites.
  • Ensure programs maintain appropriate staffing ratios, enrollment targets, attendance goals, and quality standards.
  • Monitor compliance with district, state, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain systems for program monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze program performance data and develop action plans to improve outcomes.
  • Directly supervise Program Managers and Site Supervisors.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and performance management to supervisory staff.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and retention efforts for full-time and part-time employees.
  • Support the professional growth and leadership development of staff at all levels.
  • Foster a positive organizational culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and student success.
  • Serve as ICAN's primary point of contact with district and school-site leadership.
  • Participate in planning, coordination, and partnership meetings with stakeholders.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with school administrators, teachers, families, and community partners.
  • Support collaborative decision-making regarding program design, implementation, and student services.
  • Oversee program budgets and staffing allocations.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and effective resource management.
  • Support contract compliance, reporting requirements, and grant deliverables.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, recordkeeping, and data collection practices.
  • Direct supervision of Program Managers and Site Supervisors.
  • Indirect oversight of full-time and part-time program staff across multiple sites.
  • Responsible for the leadership and management of large-scale staffing operations supporting expanded learning programs.
