About The Position

This position has primary accountability to lead and manage the Environmental Services Department at Jennings at Notre Dame Village (including maintenance, housekeeping and custodial work) in the small houses, cottages and apartment building to ensure the safety and comfort of residents, staff and visitors.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of building systems maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to building and life safety codes
  • HVAC Certification
  • Demonstrated electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills
  • Leadership skills, coaching, team building, goal setting, decision making, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Understand and communicates job related information and directions in English
  • In-depth emotional intelligence demonstrated self-awareness and accurate self-assessment, sensitivity and empathy, openness, reliability, and consistency.
  • Seasoned level of facilities maintenance and housekeeping management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage staff: select, hire, train, counsel and ensure performance and morale of housekeeping and maintenance staff.
  • Manage planning, developing, organizing, implementing and directing the day-to-day functions with a focus on quality of housekeeping and maintenance; their programs and activities.
  • Assist the Executive Director with developing and implementing written policies and procedures for maintenance and housekeeping work.
  • Schedule staff, work assignments, cleaning schedules, etc.; to expedite work.
  • Manage safety, fire protection, and prevention programs by inspecting and resolving work areas and equipment issues including the fire system and in maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Personally perform all maintenance tasks and functions, routine, emergency, preventative, and otherwise.
  • Ensure compliance and continuous compliance with all Life Safety and Environmental Regulations and policies. Maintain safety at all times. Maintain readiness for surveys at all times. Immediately respond to surveyors and other authorities upon their arrival.
  • Assure that the buildings and grounds are maintained through delegation and/or personal responsibility; oversee landscaping and maintenance of sidewalks and driveways including snow removal and salting.
  • Monitor all buildings and infrastructure systems to ensure continuous operations and efficient usage.
  • Manage external contractors.
  • Work schedule as assigned.
  • Serve in an on-call basis and respond to campus, equipment, and building emergencies on a timely basis 7x24x365. Carry cell phone and be available for emergency calls 24/7.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs and major system replacement plans.
  • Assist the Executive Director with developing and managing capital and operating budgets relative to maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Assure compliance with all related safety regulations and emergency preparedness.
  • Always adhere to Resident Rights policies.
  • Observe all facility safety procedures and policies.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
  • Assume accountability for information contained in the Staff Handbook.
  • Plan work in an efficient manner and demonstrated dependability.
  • Understand and comply with the Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Participate in committee and events on and off the campus.
