About The Position

The Director, EHS is responsible for leading all Environmental, Health & Safety programs across our facilities, including manufacturing, research and development, logistics, and administrative environments. This role drives the EHS strategic direction for the company, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes a strong safety culture rooted in accountability, operational learning, and shared responsibility. This role ensures that EHS strategies are effectively operationalized at the San Marcos campus, providing leadership for local implementation, capability development, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Has a minimum of 15 years of EHS experience, including significant leadership responsibility in complex manufacturing, & or industrial environments.
  • Possesses experience implementing EHS programs across multi-functional facilities (manufacturing, labs, warehouses, administrative spaces).
  • Has previous experience with multi-facility responsibilities.
  • Has a strong working knowledge of U.S. federal and state EHS regulations.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and driving organizational change.
  • Exhibits strong analytical, project management, and influencing skills.
  • Is knowledgeable of environmental compliance and risk reduction programs.
  • Has experience working directly with manufacturing sites on a global level.
  • Is a strategic thinker with the ability to integrate corporate expectations into local site implementation.
  • Is highly collaborative and effective in working across a complex organizational matrix.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills and can build trust and credibility across diverse teams.
  • Is organized, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Has an advanced degree and/or professional certifications (CSP, CIH, PE).
  • Familiar with managing environmental remediation, including coordination with consultants and regulators.
  • Has experience working with EHS management systems and ISOs.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and leading the EHS strategy, ensuring alignment with frameworks, standards, and long-range plans.
  • Serving as the primary EHS leader for promoting shared ownership of safety across all levels and functions.
  • Communicating site performance, risks, and improvement priorities to local leadership and corporate EHS teams.
  • Maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations across all Austin campus facilities.
  • Leading the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programs addressing safety, ergonomics, hazardous materials, waste management, environmental protection, and sustainability.
  • Managing campus-level audits, inspections, and verification activities; ensuring timely corrective action implementation and effectiveness.
  • Monitoring regulatory changes and assessing their impact on campus operations; partner with corporate and site stakeholders to implement mitigation strategies.
  • Driving campus environmental sustainability initiatives, including goals related to energy use, GHG emissions, water conservation, waste reduction, and recycling.
  • Overseeing environmental permits, regulatory submissions, and site remediation activities as needed.
  • Collaborating with site functional teams - Operations, & Facilities, HR, Engineering, and Supply Chain, etc., to embed EHS principles into work planning, design, and execution.
  • Acting as the key EHS liaison for corporate functions, ensuring local alignment with enterprise initiatives and expectations.
  • Engaging with regulatory agencies, auditors, and external partners on matters.
  • Leading efforts to cultivate a positive, learning-focused safety culture that encourages reporting, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Promoting proactive employee engagement, recognition, and participation in EHS programs.
  • Directing, mentoring, and developing a team of campus EHS professionals; establishing clear priorities, expectations, and growth pathways.
  • Strengthening team capability in compliance management, technical EHS competencies, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Managing external consultants, contractors, and technical experts supporting campus EHS programs.
