About The Position

American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is seeking a Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to lead company-wide safety and environmental strategy across manufacturing, service, and field operations. This is a strategic and operational leadership role focused on driving safety and environmental programs, enforcing accountability, influencing leadership behavior, and ensuring compliance while reducing operational risk. The role requires a leader who is comfortable being highly visible in operational environments, addressing unsafe behaviors directly, and partnering with leaders to improve execution without compromising accountability. The Director will own safety performance, risk reduction, and cultural impact, directly shaping how safety is executed across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field required
  • 8–10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience
  • 5+ years managing safety programs in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable safety regulations
  • Strong ability to influence and hold leaders accountable
  • Proven ability to drive cultural and behavioral change
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Practical, solution-oriented approach to safety challenges
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
  • Ability to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I-9)
  • Eligibility to access export-controlled information where applicable
  • Willingness to undergo a background check in accordance with applicable laws
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment drug screen and randomized drug testing during employment
  • Ability to meet the posted work schedule and required hours

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all company safety programs and initiatives
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Safety Manager
  • Establish safety goals, KPIs, and accountability measures
  • Drive proactive safety culture across all departments
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulations
  • Serve as primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and communications
  • Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Oversee critical safety programs including Lockout/Tagout, NFPA 70E Electrical Safety, Fall Protection / Working at Heights, Crane & Rigging Safety, Powered Industrial Trucks & Aerial Lifts, Hazard Communication, PPE, Respiratory, and Hearing Conservation
  • Evaluate workplace hazards and implement mitigation strategies
  • Lead investigation of incidents and near misses
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Track trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee safety training programs and new employee onboarding
  • Coordinate OSHA-required and specialized training programs
  • Promote employee engagement and awareness in safety practices
  • Direct safety inspections across manufacturing and operational areas
  • Ensure compliance for fire protection systems, equipment, and facilities
  • Partner with operations to resolve safety risks
  • Support environmental stewardship initiatives and continuous improvement efforts related to operational sustainability and compliance
  • Oversee environmental reporting including Tier II, VOC, recycling, and hazardous materials
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and reporting requirements
  • Provide executive oversight of the Safety Committee
  • Support initiatives tied to Workers’ Compensation and safety performance
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on safety initiatives
