About The Position

The Director of Enrollment Management Research & Analytics is a critical leadership role within Enrollment Management (EM) at West Virginia University (WVU). This position is responsible for providing the estimation, modeling, and analysis necessary to develop, assess, and inform decisions for the Strategic Enrollment Plan (SEP) across both Enrollment Management and Student Success. The Director will analyze and forecast trends in enrollment, admissions, and financial aid to provide decision support that impacts the broader University. The Director will partner directly with the Executive Director and the Vice President for Enrollment Management to set goals and priorities that align with the institution's comprehensive strategic enrollment plan. This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to the Morgantown, WV campus (approximately 4–6 times per year).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of eight(8) years of combined experience in the following: Performing predictive modeling, reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience with data analysis tools
  • Leading independent projects.
  • Supervisory and/or leadership Experience
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree
  • Experience working within the higher education enrollment funnel and processes and a Master of Science degree
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and updating useful and accurate enrollment or customer acquisition prediction models using multiple data sources.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and forecast trends in enrollment, admissions, and financial aid that are critical for university planning and decision support.
  • Create multiple projections/predictive models and provide in-depth analysis of findings.
  • Build models to predict student conversion, yield, and success rates across various segments and points in the recruitment funnel, enabling proactive student engagement.
  • Identify factors highly correlated with student success (retention, graduation rates), engagement, and satisfaction to empower priority setting for university leadership.
  • Serve a functional role in all reports, modeling, and analysis used to inform decisions across EM and the broader University.
  • Provide data administration expertise and work with all EM departments to ensure necessary reports and reporting tools are available for decisions related to undergraduate admissions, registration, scholarships, financial aid, and student services.
  • Prepare executive summaries, reports, proposals, and written analysis regarding operational activities and services.
  • Evaluate, map, and implement improvements to EM operations and workflows.
  • Conduct, assess, and measure information from surveys and other sources to gain insights into underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and VP of Enrollment to set priorities and goals for the comprehensive strategic enrollment plan.
  • Provide independent leadership on collaborative projects and interactions with key partners, including ITS, Finance, and college business partners.
  • Serve as a member of university-wide and campus/system-wide committees focused on enrollment planning, initiatives, data, research, and IT.
  • Assemble cross functional team (department heads, vendors, staff, faculty) to solicit cooperation and problem-solve.
  • Work with campus partners and external vendors to ensure data integrity across various systems.
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision of Data Analyst(s), including setting project guidelines, timelines, and staff assignments.
  • Responsible for project management, prioritizing incoming requests, and analyzing the effectiveness of the office.
  • Manage the unit by coordinating, planning, and overseeing operational procedures.
  • Develop and equip technical staff to support changing technology, business, and reporting needs.
