About The Position

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. As part of a passionate and growing team of experts in the engines business unit, you will be responsible for providing both technical and programmatic leadership. With continued growth in the business unit, you will be expected to help manage business operating change; providing mentoring to less senior program managers and IPT leads; and work as an integral part of the BU to support growth to the future organization. The engines business unit provides propulsion for New Glenn and the Advanced Development programs along with external customer launch vehicles. As part of the team, you will contribute directly and significantly to the team’s impact on the future of human space exploration. This position will report into the engines business unit program leadership.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering with Program and Project Management training or an equivalent based on at least 15 years of rocket engine experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams on fast-paced projects
  • Leadership and management experience as well as a history of mentoring
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • As part of the engines business unit, will provide oversight; mentoring; support development of staffing plans; and communication within specific programs or the business unit.
  • Participate in critical program decision boards; corrective action boards; and risk boards as needed
  • Will work collaboratively with all functional organizations to support the business unit goals
  • Support collaborative efforts with all Blue business units to ensure optimum system solutions are achieved.
  • Participate in strategic planning including requirements for engine demand; test capabilities; and specific near term and out year needs
  • Ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in program management
  • Program planning & execution of assigned scope including scheduling, resource allocation and delivery of scope within budget and schedule constraints ensuring priority to quality and safety
