About The Position

The Director of Engineering will lead our Claims domain, owning the systems and teams that power mission-critical workflows across claims intake, adjudication, and payments. This role combines technical leadership, organizational building, and product partnership, and is accountable for driving execution, technical direction, and team performance across multiple teams. This role will build and scale a high-performing engineering organization in North America, while also leading and integrating teams in Poland, operating as a unified global team. The Director of Engineering will partner closely with Product to deliver measurable customer and business outcomes, while establishing a culture of ownership, velocity, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering with leadership experience.
  • Experience managing engineering managers and multiple teams.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong experience defining technical strategy and architecture.
  • Strong partnership with Product and stakeholders.
  • Experience in fast-paced product environments.
  • Strong understanding of system reliability and scaling systems.
  • Experience with distributed/global teams.
  • Ability to travel internationally approximately 5%

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support multiple engineering teams, including engineering managers and senior engineers, ensuring consistent delivery, strong technical quality, and healthy team operations.
  • Build and scale a North America-based team while integrating distributed teams in Poland.
  • Define and guide technical architecture and long-term system strategy.
  • Partner closely with Product Management to align engineering strategy with product priorities and customer needs.
  • Drive team execution through backlog management, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Drive and protect team velocity and remove blockers.
  • Own outcomes over activity and drive work through completion.
  • Continuously improve delivery processes and engineering practices.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of the team.
  • Maintain visibility into system reliability and operational health.
  • Engage directly with customers to deliver real value.
