Director of Engineering – Retirement Digital Platforms
About The Position
We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the delivery and evolution of our US Retirement digital platforms. In this role, you will lead and grow high-performing engineering teams responsible for building secure, scalable, and customer-centric solutions that help millions of customers plan for their financial future. You will play a key leadership role in shaping engineering strategy, driving platform reliability and security, and advancing modernization through cloud and AI-enabled technologies. Requirements
- Experience leading engineering teams delivering cloud-based applications at scale
- Strong understanding of modern software development practices and system design
- Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver business outcomes
- Knowledge of secure development practices, application performance, and reliability
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React)
- Familiarity with backend and API-based architectures
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure
- Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools
- Interest in or experience with AI-enabled development tools
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the engineering strategy, roadmap, and technical direction for retirement digital platforms
- Partner with product, architecture, and business leaders to deliver high-impact customer outcomes
- Contribute to broader organizational strategy and cross-functional initiatives
- Lead teams to design, build, and operate scalable web applications and supporting services
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, DevOps, and automation
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, customer-focused solutions
- Champion secure coding practices and lead vulnerability remediation efforts
- Strengthen platform resilience, performance, and availability across digital systems
- Partner with security and risk teams to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
- Build, develop, and mentor high-performing engineering teams across multiple workstreams
- Foster an inclusive culture of accountability, continuous learning, and psychological safety
- Support career growth through coaching, feedback, and development opportunities
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-enabled development tools
- Continuously improve engineering processes, quality, and developer experience
