Trellis AI•San Francisco, CA
•$250,000 - $285,000

About The Position

Trellis is hiring a Director of Engineering to lead the growth of its engineering organization, currently a 15-person team across platform, deployed, and product pods, with a goal of doubling headcount by year-end. The role will set the engineering bar, make high-impact technical and organizational decisions, and build a team that ships quickly while maintaining systems patients depend on. The Director reports to Jacky, Co-founder & CTO. The Director will oversee hiring and development as the team grows, establish engineering practices and workflows, lead architecture and vendor decisions across the agent platform, Windows session fleet, and integrations, and ensure infrastructure can scale beyond the $10 billion of therapies processed today. The role will also remove obstacles for engineers, keep pods aligned, and partner with founders, deployments, and go-to-market teams to translate customer needs into a deliverable roadmap. Trellis builds and deploys self-improving AI agents that automate healthcare document intake, prior authorizations, appeals, medical referral classification, chart-note understanding, and contract and reimbursement searches. Its systems support patients in all fifty states. The company is a spinout from Stanford AI Lab and is backed by leading investors. The company offers meaningful equity to full-time teammates, medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible PTO and sick time, daily office meals, and team offsites.
