About The Position

This role is responsible for leading capital engineering projects supporting North American Operating Unit (NAOU) manufacturing and supply chain facilities. The position focuses on industrial automation, controls modernization, OT cybersecurity, manufacturing technology, digital transformation, equipment reliability, and operational improvements. The engineer will partner with plant teams, system integrators, IT organizations, equipment suppliers, and subject matter experts to successfully deliver projects from concept through startup while ensuring alignment with corporate engineering standards, cybersecurity requirements, and operational objectives. The role contributes to manufacturing modernization initiatives through the deployment of automation and control system solutions that improve safety, reliability, productivity, asset utilization, operational visibility, and cybersecurity resilience across manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing, automation, controls, systems integration, or project engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading capital projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting industrial automation and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial instrumentation, drives, and process controls.
  • Understanding of industrial communications protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of industrial network architecture and manufacturing system integration concepts.
  • Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles, secure system design, and industrial control system risk management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital projects from concept development through commissioning and startup.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, business justifications, and execution strategies.
  • Coordinate with plant operations, maintenance, quality, safety, procurement, IT, and external engineering partners.
  • Support factory modernization, equipment replacement, capacity expansion, controls upgrades, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with engineering standards.
  • Drive standardization and implementation of engineering best practices across manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead project risk assessments, technical reviews, and startup readiness activities.
  • Lead industrial automation and control system projects across manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, drives, motion control, and process control solutions supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Support control system modernization initiatives including equipment upgrades, lifecycle management, obsolescence replacement, and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance through automation, advanced controls, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate with plant operations, maintenance, engineering teams, IT/OT resources, and system integrators to execute automation project deliverables.
  • Support integration of manufacturing systems with data historians, reporting platforms, MES, and enterprise systems.
  • Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and operational handoff activities.
  • Ensure control system designs align with company engineering standards and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support implementation of digital manufacturing, connected factory, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Leverage manufacturing data, analytics, visualization tools, and automation technologies to improve operational decision-making.
  • Identify and implement technologies that improve equipment reliability, production efficiency, and process performance.
  • Contribute to automation and manufacturing technology roadmaps supporting long-term facility modernization strategies.
  • Enhance operational visibility through improved data collection, reporting, and system integration solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through technology-enabled process optimization.
  • Partner with OT cybersecurity, IT, and plant engineering teams to ensure manufacturing systems are deployed securely and reliably.
  • Incorporate OT cybersecurity requirements into capital project design, implementation, and commissioning activities.
  • Support development and maintenance of secure industrial control system architectures aligned with corporate standards.
  • Evaluate industrial network segmentation, remote access solutions, backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and system resiliency requirements during project execution.
  • Assist with lifecycle planning and risk management for control systems, industrial networking infrastructure, and manufacturing technology assets.
  • Support compliance with OT cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and internal governance requirements.
  • Participate in cybersecurity assessments, remediation activities, and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and cybersecurity best practices impacting industrial control environments.
