Director of Electrical Engineering

RemoraWixom, MI
$180,000 - $220,000Onsite

About The Position

Remora is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead the design and execution of electrical systems for our industrial carbon capture products. This hands-on leader will build and develop the electrical engineering function while providing technical direction across product development, deployment, and commissioning. Experience with industrial power systems, 480V three-phase power, generator integration, and medium- or high-voltage systems is highly valued. We’re building modular carbon capture systems, turning exhaust into beverage-grade CO₂ sold to breweries and greenhouses. We deploy in regions facing severe CO₂ shortages, where prices are highest, allowing us to generate high margins without relying on tax credits or carbon credits. We’ve raised over $150 million in funding from top investors including Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners.

  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with complex industrial, energy, or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience leading engineering teams while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong background in industrial electrical systems, power distribution, controls, and electrical architecture.
  • Experience with 480V three-phase systems, schematics, and electrical system analysis.
  • Experience taking systems from R&D/concept through manufacturing, commissioning, and field deployment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with generator integration, MW-scale systems, medium/high-voltage equipment, or utility interconnection preferred.

  • Develop and review schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and electrical system designs.
  • Perform and oversee electrical studies, protection strategies, and power system analysis, including load flow, short-circuit, and arc flash.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across 480V three-phase power, grounding, protection, and medium/high-voltage systems.
  • Work directly with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, EPCs, utilities, and field teams to resolve technical issues and deliver systems.
  • Support electrical field testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of complex electrical systems.
  • Establish practical design standards and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and other applicable standards.
