About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Engagement, Culture & Community, the Director of Engagement and Education provides strategic and operational leadership for institution-wide engagement, education, and community-building initiatives aligned with divisional priorities across Pratt’s Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses. The Director leads the development, implementation, assessment, and coordination of educational programming, dialogue initiatives, leadership development opportunities, trainings, and campus-wide engagement efforts that strengthen institutional culture, community connection, and shared responsibility across the Pratt community. The Director provides operational oversight for a shared multi-purpose campus community space open to all Pratt students, faculty, and staff. The space serves as a central campus gathering space, educational programming, dialogue initiatives, cultural events, leadership development, collaborative initiatives, and community engagement opportunities. The Director oversees the strategic coordination of the space, including daily operations, programming efforts, student staff supervision and engagement, and community-centered practices that support a welcoming, accessible, and connected campus environment. Working collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Human Resources, Institutional Equity & Title IX, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and campus partners, the Director develops and facilitates educational initiatives, prevention and awareness programming, workshops, and community engagement strategies for students, faculty, and staff. This role serves as a key strategic campus partner and resource, translating institutional priorities into meaningful educational experiences and community-centered practices that strengthen institutional engagement, educational awareness, community participation, and a collaborative campus culture through coordinated programming, strategic partnerships, assessment efforts, and operational implementation.

Requirements

• Master’s degree required; terminal degree preferred in higher education administration, organizational leadership, public policy, accessibility studies, organizational development, student affairs, institutional strategy, community engagement, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including demonstrated success leading engagement, education, or community-based initiatives, supervising professional and student staff, managing program operations and budgets, and developing training, curriculum, and educational programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Title VI and Title IX prevention education and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups and leadership levels required.
• Exceptional facilitation, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills required to engage effectively with students, faculty, staff, and senior leadership across diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
• Strong analytical and assessment capabilities, including the ability to evaluate program effectiveness, identify emerging campus needs, and utilize data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional initiatives that support institutional learning, engagement, and community wellbeing.
• Experience building collaborative partnerships and advancing institution-wide initiatives through systems-level coordination and shared responsibility models.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and digital engagement platforms required.

Responsibilities

• Lead divisional engagement, education, and community-building initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities of the Office of Engagement, Culture & Community across Pratt’s Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses.
• Coordinate the implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of high-impact engagement programs, signature initiatives, and campus-wide educational experiences that strengthen institutional connection and community engagement.
• Support divisional civil discourse, dialogue, and community education initiatives that strengthen institutional culture, learning, accountability, and campus connection.
• Develop and implement scalable educational and engagement frameworks, including train-the-trainer models, peer education initiatives, leadership development opportunities, and community-centered learning experiences.
• Coordinate and facilitate workshops, trainings, dialogues, and educational initiatives for students, faculty, staff, and campus partners in collaboration with divisional and institutional stakeholders.
• Monitor participation, engagement, and assessment data to evaluate effectiveness, identify emerging needs, and support divisional reporting, assessment, and strategic planning.
• Provide operational leadership and programmatic oversight, aligned with divisional priorities and institutional engagement goals.
• Oversee daily operations, annual planning processes, implementation coordination, and community engagement initiatives connected to the programming calendar.
• Coordinate program operations, staffing support, communications, implementation logistics, and budget-related processes in partnership with divisional leadership and campus collaborators.
• Lead coordination efforts related to heritage and affinity programming, educational initiatives, keynote events, panels, dialogues, and campus-wide engagement opportunities that strengthen institutional connection and community participation.
• Support operational planning, vendor coordination, implementation logistics, and event support for divisional programs and institutional initiatives.
• Collaborate with campus partners and communications offices to strengthen outreach, participation, visibility, and coordinated communication strategies connected to divisional initiatives and engagement efforts.
• Lead the development, coordination, implementation, and assessment of educational curricula, trainings, workshops, dialogue initiatives, and community learning experiences aligned with divisional and institutional priorities.
• Develop and facilitate educational initiatives, awareness campaigns, and prevention-focused programs related to institutional culture, community engagement, bias prevention, intersectionality, gender and sexuality, leadership development, and other institutional priorities.
• Collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning to support faculty development, classroom practice, educational, and community-centered teaching and learning initiatives.
• Partner with Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Institutional Equity & Title IX, Student Affairs, and campus stakeholders to integrate engagement education, awareness and prevention initiatives, and community-centered learning practices into onboarding, employee learning systems, leadership development initiatives, and institutional educational programming.
• Support the development of sustainable educational infrastructure, awareness and prevention initiatives, implementation frameworks, and shared responsibility models that strengthen institutional capacity for engagement, accountability, and community education.
• Provide supervision, leadership development, mentorship, and operational guidance for professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees supporting divisional initiatives and engagement efforts.
• Coordinate and support peer education initiatives, student leadership development opportunities, and community engagement models that strengthen participation and institutional connection.
• Collaborate with Student Involvement and campus partners to advise student leaders, peer educators, advisory groups, and community-centered student organizations as appropriate.
• Support collaborative leadership structures, educational partnerships, and engagement opportunities that strengthen student participation, organizational alignment, and campus-wide connection.
• Serve as a visible campus partner and divisional representative for engagement, education, and community-centered initiatives across the Institute.
• Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Human Resources, Institutional Equity & Title IX, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and additional campus stakeholders to coordinate high-impact institutional initiatives and engagement efforts.
• Represent the Division of Engagement, Culture & Community on institutional committees, working groups, task forces, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
• Partner with divisional leadership on strategic initiatives, operational coordination efforts, special projects, institutional assessments, and emerging campus priorities connected to engagement, accountability, and community experience.
• Serve as a campus resource and collaborative partner supporting institutional communication, community engagement, educational initiatives, and coordinated response efforts across the Pratt community.
