About The Position

Centerpoint is a 16-bed Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) for emotionally disturbed adolescent males. The primary mission of Centerpoint is the treatment and rehabilitation of adolescent males with mental illness and challenging behaviors. Centerpoint provides a secure, clinically intensive residential program that enhances growth and coping skills. The program’s ultimate goal is to enable each resident to attain optimal psychological and social growth; to transition to a less restrictive setting and eventually into the greater community. In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others while leading a dynamic team of teachers by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with our youth!

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Special Education Administrator certification or M.ED Special Education/ SPED Administration.
  • At least 1 years of experience as a supervisor and administrator.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in special education with young adults with emotional disabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth in an alternative school setting or treatment program is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Centerpoint’s education department in hiring, supervising, team-teaching as part of supervision, evaluation and training, unit planning, curriculum planning, technology integration, IEP development, development and oversight of related systems to support these tasks.
  • Work in tandem with Centerpoint’s Clinical, Nursing, Residential Department and Administrative team to provide a shared vision of supportive and enriching programmatic services and to maintain positive relationships with outside agencies, families, and other involved parties.
  • Provide leadership as a meeting chair, public school liaison, and among others.
  • Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our youth.
