We’re looking for a Director of Electrical & Software Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team of 10 engineers and technicians. You’ll drive our new product development roadmap, strengthen engineering processes, and ensure we deliver high-quality, reliable, next‑generation oceanographic instruments. This role is perfect for a leader who thrives at the intersection of modern electronics, IoT-enabled systems, embedded technologies, and high-performing teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years developing electronic products or systems
- 5+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Proven success delivering NPD programs from concept to launch
- Experience with connected/IoT devices, AI, embedded systems, wireless technologies, and low-power electronics.
- Strong communication and leadership skills in a matrixed environment.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and grow electrical, software, and compliance engineers
- Build a high-performing, collaborative engineering organization
- Drive clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing)
- Own execution of the product development roadmap
- Lead milestone planning, design reviews, risk mitigation, and resource allocation
- Partner closely with Product, Manufacturing, and cross-functional teams
- Ensure products meet schedule, cost, and performance targets
- Guide development of modern electronic instrumentation
- Influence next-gen architecture: AI, wireless comms, low-power systems, IoT connectivity
- Champion platforming, cost optimization, and design-for-manufacturability
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends
