About The Position

The Director of Electrical Operations (TX) is responsible for building, leading, and scaling Compu Dynamics' self-perform electrical installation team in the Texas market. Modeled after the company's established Virginia-based electrical install operation, this role owns the full lifecycle of the Texas electrical division — from building the team and field infrastructure, to driving project execution, financial performance, and long-range strategic growth. The Director operates with a high degree of autonomy and is accountable for the division's safety record, customer satisfaction, quality standards, profitability, and talent development across all levels of the electrical install career track. The Texas electrical division would collaborate with project managers, superintendents, the VA Electrical team, and staff from other divisions to execute projects successfully. The division will have a specialty in Data Centers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and industry experience.
  • 10+ years of commercial electrical experience, including direct management of electricians and field crews.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience, including oversight of superintendents, foremen, and multi-project field operations.
  • Texas Master Electrician License (or ability to obtain promptly upon hire).
  • Demonstrated experience working in data center or mission-critical environments; this is a firm requirement for this role.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep understanding of data center critical power and cooling systems, including UPS, switchgear, PDUs, generators, and redundancy configurations.
  • Management experience with a demonstrated track record of success.
  • Experience building or launching a new market division or regional office.
  • Familiarity with Procore, estimating software, or construction management platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and leads the Compu Dynamics' Texas Electrical Self-Perform Install Division; establishes operational infrastructure, field processes, and team structure modeled after the Virginia division.
  • Formulates and develops long-range goals and objectives for the Texas Electrical Self-Perform Install Division in alignment with company-wide strategy.
  • Partners with the VP of Electrical / ISD Operations and executive leadership to define growth targets, market priorities, and investment milestones for the division in the Texas market.
  • Establishes vendor, supplier, subcontractor, and public agency relationships in the Dallas/Fort Worth market and broader Texas region.
  • Develops and implements division policies, procedures, and productivity standards consistent with Compu Dynamics' Virginia operation and company-wide national standards.
  • Oversees the daily and long-range operations of the Texas Electrical Self-Perform Install Division, ensuring all projects are running safely, effectively, and on schedule.
  • Ensures quality control throughout all phases of project execution; visits customers as needed to maintain relationships and conduct quality control inspections.
  • Reviews electrical design documents and periodically, in conjunction with the Company’s estimating department, develops conceptual estimates and scopes of work with or without full design documentation.
  • Participates in client walkthroughs and site surveys; supports the estimating team in developing accurate and competitive bids.
  • Manages commissioning activities and project closeout across all of the Division’s Texas projects; ensures clean turnover and client satisfaction.
  • Serves as the executive escalation point for high-impact field issues, RFIs, design conflicts, or safety incidents, in conjunction with the Project Management team.
  • Reviews financial performance; adjusts operations budgets and staffing to promote profitability and meet revenue targets.
  • Evaluates the efficiency of business procedures against organizational objectives and implements improvements to maximize margin and operational performance.
  • Works with administration and accounting to ensure accurate project billing, cost tracking, and financial reporting for the Texas division.
  • Prepares estimates and proposals as needed; reviews and approves major bids, scopes, and pricing decisions.
  • Builds the Texas Electrical Install Self-Perform Division ; recruits, selects, orients, and trains employees across all levels of the career progression — apprentice through superintendent – in coordination with the Company’s Talent Management team.
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising performance; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as needed.
  • Develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards across the Texas field team.
  • Ensures career progression pathways are established and actively utilized; mentors field leadership (foremen, superintendents, general superintendent) to develop the next generation of electrical leaders.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations thoroughly and on time; develops growth plans for all direct reports.
  • Facilitates team meetings and operations reviews to align on priorities, address challenges, and drive accountability.
  • Accountable for the Texas Electrical Self-Perform Division's overall safety record; champions a zero-incident safety culture across all projects and crews.
  • Ensures all projects are operated in full compliance with OSHA guidelines, National Electric Code (NEC), and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and legally compliant work environment; ensures all client security, access, and safety requirements are met on every project.
  • Operates vehicles and equipment safely; adheres to all safety protocols; reports hazards and risks; models behavior that contributes to a safe and secure working environment.
  • Provides timely and complete documentation of work performed.
