About The Position

The Director of Educational Support Services (ESS) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all K–12 student academic support programs, including intervention services, accommodations, student success planning, and paraprofessional support. This role ensures that students with diverse learning needs receive Christ-centered, data-informed, and research-based support that promotes academic success, personal growth, and spiritual development. The Director is responsible for developing systems, leading staff, ensuring program effectiveness, and maintaining compliance with school standards and best practices. The position exercises significant independent judgment in program design, student support decisions, and resource allocation, and serves as a key member of the school’s academic leadership team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education required
  • 5+ years of experience in academic support, intervention, or educational services required.
  • Strong knowledge of MTSS frameworks, intervention strategies, and learning support best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage programs effectively.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze and apply student data to drive decision-making.
  • Experience working collaboratively with educators, families, and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for all Educational Support Services (K–12).
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate ESS staff, including specialists, interventionists, and paraprofessionals.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with MTSS and school standards.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of academic support services across grade levels.
  • Lead departmental planning, goal setting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Oversee student referral, assessment, and placement processes within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
  • Lead development and implementation of Individual Student Plans (ISPs) and Student Success Plans.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and progress monitoring for all supported students.
  • Collaborate with principals, teachers, and families to review student progress and adjust support plans.
  • Schedule and oversee annual parent meetings and communication related to student support services.
  • Partner with school leadership and faculty to develop ESS student schedules.
  • Coordinate push-in and pull-out support services in alignment with classroom instruction.
  • Ensure efficient and effective allocation of staff resources to meet student needs.
  • Utilize assessment data (standardized testing, internal benchmarks) to evaluate student progress and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, documentation standards, and applicable accreditation expectations (e.g., ACSI).
  • Maintain accurate records of student services, communication, and interventions.
  • Lead collaboration and communication with external partners, including LISD.
  • Monitor and evaluate ESS program effectiveness using measurable outcomes.
  • Lead professional development related to learning differences, interventions, and instructional strategies.
  • Stay informed of current research and best practices in educational support services.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the ESS team.
  • Develop and manage the ESS department budget.
  • Allocate resources effectively to support student needs and program goals.
  • Evaluate staffing and program needs to support growth and sustainability.
  • Ensure integration of a Biblical worldview within all student support services.
  • Support students’ spiritual, academic, and personal development.
  • Foster strong partnerships between school, families, and churches.
