About The Position

The responsibility of the AANA Foundation’s Director of Development is to promote Foundation programs and activities and raise funds that support Foundation programs and efforts. The Director of Development develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive fundraising programs with direct responsibility for all giving campaigns. The Director of Development is responsible for facilitating and/or collaborating on all marketing efforts related to fundraising for the Foundation, focusing on member and donor awareness, strategies, cultivation, and stewardship.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree required and 5 to 8 years related work experience in non-profit fundraising and annual giving.
  • Proven experience in fundraising and marketing.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience with Salesforce or other donor databases.
  • Desirable experience in creating marketing materials – both print and electronic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective participation in working groups and internal functions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in fundraising campaigns, event management, and marketing.
  • Experience in a fund development environment that has included ongoing interaction with donors and partners.
  • Experience in tracking and administering multiple major prospects and donor accounts.
  • Must be detail-oriented and extremely organized.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of personal and professional integrity, ability to inspire confidence, sensitivity to others, high energy, sense of humor and high capacity for work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with the ability and willingness to operate autonomously while keeping staff and volunteers apprised on issues, problems, opportunities and progress.
  • Possess excellent writing and editing skills, public speaking and interpersonal communication.
  • Abide by the Association of Fundraising Professional (AFP) Code of Ethics for fundraisers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual plan and strategies to communicate the Foundation’s case for support to members and solicit donations for the annual fund and other fundraising campaigns, programs, and activities, within budget.
  • Manage, oversee, and/or advise on the execution of direct mail, monthly newsletter solicitations, dues effort, personal solicitations, recognition and stewardship.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors and members, respond to inquiries, and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with other Foundation leadership, fundraising, marketing, and program staff for smooth operations and consistent messaging.
  • Develop and implement a sustainable corporate fundraising program to include solicitation, stewardship and formal corporate sponsorship packages.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate corporate, major donor, planned giving, and fundraising recognition programs.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders including corporate partners, donors, and members.
  • Coordinate outreach initiatives and engagement campaigns to build brand awareness, raise funds, and increase stakeholder trust.
  • Review, source and recommend new products, technology, and information to improve Foundation fundraising, marketing, and/or operations including software and online platforms.
  • Source, plan, and implement efforts and events focused on fundraising, engagement, networking, recognition, cultivation, and programs and education when needed on behalf of the Foundation virtually and at AANA national meetings.
  • Oversee creation and implementation of Foundation events, meetings, materials, and fundraising at AANA national meetings.
  • Represent the Foundation as the lead on fundraising-related efforts including the AANA Meetings team to coordinate Foundation activities with AANA including corporate, major donor, planned giving, and fundraising recognition programs.
  • Educate, inspire, support, and coordinate volunteer efforts to represent the Foundation and raise awareness and funds to support Foundation programs and activities.
  • Collaborate with Board of Trustees Fundraising Committee and lead other volunteers that include individual members and groups including State Advocates, Resident Advocates, and Fundraising Committee and Task Forces focused on specific outcomes.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to the Foundation Development Associate and others when needed in relation to fundraising and stewardship activities.
  • Responsible for updating Foundation staff and Board on fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and goal attainment.
  • Establish a network of fundraising professionals.
