About The Position

OMNI is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City to find their next Director of Development. This role is responsible for driving philanthropic growth and community impact. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven fundraising leader with a proven track record in revenue generation, strategic partnership development, and donor engagement. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive fundraising, business development, account management, sales, relationship management, or resource development experience. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Proven success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, clients, sponsors, or strategic partners, resulting in measurable growth and long-term engagement.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic fundraising, partnership, or revenue-generation initiatives that drive sustainable organizational growth.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, campaigns, and stakeholder relationships in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing compelling proposals, presentations, donor communications, and impact-focused storytelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with data-driven reporting and fundraising analytics tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in or with nonprofit, philanthropic, volunteer-driven, or community-focused organizations preferred.
  • Experience utilizing CRM, donor management, or fundraising systems to manage relationships, track performance, and inform strategic decision-making preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Vice President of Development and organizational leadership to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that support Habitat KC’s strategic priorities, revenue goals, and long-term sustainability while promoting a culture of philanthropy, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the planning and execution of Habitat KC's annual giving strategy, including donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade initiatives. Oversee the organization's year-end campaign in partnership with Marketing, ensuring cohesive messaging, strong donor engagement, and performance against revenue goals.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with corporate partners, sponsors, and community stakeholders to drive philanthropic investment, volunteer engagement, and long-term partnerships. Serve as an ambassador for Habitat KC throughout the business and philanthropic communities.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors through prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Oversee planned giving communications and stewardship efforts, including management of Habitat KC's FreeWill partnership, while developing strategies to deepen donor engagement and grow long-term philanthropic support.
  • Oversee the growth and sustainability of Habitat KC's signature affinity build initiatives, including Women Build, Pride Build, Veterans Build, and future engagement opportunities. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to maximize participation, visibility, and fundraising results.
  • Lead the research, development, and submission of corporate grant proposals, aligning funding opportunities with organizational priorities and community impact. Support stewardship and reporting activities to strengthen institutional funding relationships.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team through coaching, accountability, professional development, and performance management. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and shared success while supporting team members in achieving individual and organizational goals.
  • Leverage fundraising metrics, donor insights, pipeline reports, and CRM data to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and inform decision-making. Establish measurable goals and drive continuous improvements in fundraising effectiveness, donor engagement, and revenue growth.
  • Partner with Marketing, Programs, Construction, Finance, and Community Engagement teams to ensure cohesive messaging, impactful storytelling, and alignment between fundraising initiatives and organizational priorities.
