About The Position

The Director of Data Science and AI will lead the growth of Cayuse’s Data and AI initiatives across business units and industries, with particular focus on Resources (including Oil & Gas and Utilities) and Enterprise and Consumer Technology. The role combines business development, strategic advisory, and solution creation. Serving as Cayuse’s Data and AI subject matter expert, the director will work with Client Account Leads to identify and pursue opportunities and ensure Cayuse’s capabilities align with client needs and market demands.

The director will advise business units, help develop tailored client offerings, create and refine Data and AI solutions, and establish strategies and roadmaps for priority industries. The role also includes representing Cayuse at industry events and client briefings, publishing thought leadership, and supporting revenue growth and Cayuse’s market reputation.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of progressive experience in data science, AI/ML, and technology strategy, including leadership roles with a strong business and advisory focus.
• Proven experience leading or contributing to RFP and RFI responses for federal, state, local, and commercial clients, with specialization in data science and AI.
• Strong understanding of federal AI policies, responsible AI frameworks, and regulatory considerations affecting AI adoption in commercial and government sectors.
• Must be able to pass a background check; additional checks may be required by projects or clients during employment.
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities; adaptable and quick to learn.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to work across organizational boundaries and levels, translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and foster alignment among diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Data and AI expert for business development initiatives, collaborating with client account leads to shape solutions, engage clients, and assess opportunities.
• Lead the creation of Data and AI content for RFPs and RFIs across federal, state, local, and commercial markets.
• Develop go-to-market materials that showcase Cayuse’s Data and AI capabilities and strategic solutions for target industries.
• Build reusable proposal content, including narratives, technical descriptions, and case studies.
• Identify Data and AI opportunities within existing contracts, pursuits, and client engagements.
• Advise business units and service lines on how Data and AI solutions can create value for clients.
• Partner with internal leaders to shape tailored Data and AI offerings for specific markets and clients.
• Identify opportunities to use AI, agentic AI, and automation to improve Cayuse’s internal processes and operations.
• Drive Data and AI business growth in Oil & Gas, Utilities, and Enterprise and Consumer Technology.
• Build and maintain strategic client and prospect relationships and develop tailored solutions.
• Collaborate with Client Account Leads and Business Development Directors to grow accounts and secure new business.
• Monitor and report on pipeline, wins, and revenue growth for assigned industries.
• Develop and maintain Data and AI strategies and roadmaps for key industries, including priority areas, emerging client needs, and required investments.
• Identify market solution gaps and longstanding client challenges that Cayuse can address with AI offerings.
• Collaborate with data scientists and AI/ML engineers to develop and refine solutions from concept to client-ready offerings.
• Lead development of tools and solutions for Cayuse’s AI Readiness offerings, customized to client and industry requirements.
• Update strategic plans to reflect market trends, technology advancements, and changing client priorities.
• Represent Cayuse at conferences, client briefings, and public forums on data strategy, AI adoption, responsible AI, and agentic AI.
• Publish articles, case studies, and thought leadership pieces.
• Engage with clients at the executive level, demonstrating technical expertise and industry knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
