About The Position

This role has ownership over FYI+'s data — how it is collected, stored, protected, reported and otherwise managed internally and externally. This role requires advanced leadership skills as well as technical data proficiency. It is the role of the Director of Data to make sure the right people have the right information to make organizational decisions, meet our reporting requirements and understand how well we are serving our community. The Director of Data is also responsible for the translation of data within the organization and externally to partners and stakeholders. The Director of Data supervises the Data Manager and partners closely with our Director of Quality Assurance & Compliance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in health informatics, public health, data science, business analytics, or a related field
  • At least 7 years working in data management, health informatics, or analytics in healthcare or behavioral health
  • At least 5 years supervising a team
  • Experience managing EHR systems and getting good data out of them
  • Experience building dashboards or reports that people actually rely on
  • Valid NM driver's license and reliable transportation required

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate a plus
  • Experience with CCBHC data reporting requirements is a strong plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (strongly preferred)
  • Experience building a data department or analytics program from the ground up

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data Team
  • Set team priorities aligned with organizational goals
  • Supervise and develop the Data Manager
  • Support staff in using and understanding data
  • Partner with Quality to ensure data drives improvement efforts
  • Build and Manage Data Systems
  • Lead the strategy for how FYI+ collects, stores, integrates, and uses data
  • Oversee the EHR to ensure clinical, billing, and compliance needs are met
  • Ensure data systems connect effectively across departments (EHR, billing, HR, etc.)
  • Establish data standards, governance, and access rules
  • Maintain data security and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • Document data systems and processes clearly
  • Turn Data Into Actionable Insights
  • Develop dashboards and reports that support decision‑making
  • Analyze clinical, operational, financial, and equity‑related trends
  • Track program outcomes and measure community impact
  • Meet Reporting Requirements
  • Oversee all required submissions to CCBHC payers, Medicaid, state agencies, and federal funders
  • Ensure reports are accurate and consistently on time
  • Support Finance and Billing with data for revenue, audits, and grants
  • Grow a Data‑Driven Culture
  • Train staff on data tools and interpretation
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and regulations
  • Collaborate with IT, Programs, Finance, and Quality to keep systems effective for all teams
