About The Position

Yeshiva University announces its new College of Dental Medicine and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today’s dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative “Block” style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Dental Anatomy & Restorative Dentistry I provides academic and administrative leadership for foundational pre-clinical education in dental anatomy, terminology, and restorative principles within the DDS curriculum. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Dental Education, this position oversees the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the Dental Anatomy and related restorative pre-clinical coursework, ensuring that students acquire a precise understanding of tooth morphology, occlusion, nomenclature, and foundational restorative concepts essential for clinical competency. The Director is responsible for coordinating course instruction, supervising pre-clinical laboratory activities, and supporting faculty in delivering rigorous, hands-on training aligned with the academic standards and educational mission of the Yeshiva University College of Dental Medicine. In collaboration with academic leadership and faculty, the Director ensures that the curriculum integrates didactic instruction with simulation-based training, promotes evidence-based teaching methods, and prepares students for progression into pre-clinical and clinical patient care.

Requirements

DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from a CODA-accredited institution.
Eligibility for dental licensure in New York State.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, including patient care, academic teaching, and curriculum development.
Demonstrated experience in clinical education support, faculty practice oversight, and compliance with CODA and institutional accreditation standards.
Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and laws/regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in New York State.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and continuously refine the Dental Anatomy & Restorative Dentistry curriculum, ensuring logical progression from basic tooth morphology and terminology to applied functional anatomy and restorative principles. Maintain alignment with institutional learning outcomes, CODA standards, and the overall DDS curriculum.
Oversee pre-clinical laboratory instruction and operations related to dental anatomy and restorative simulation exercises, including tooth carving, waxing, morphology analysis, and foundational restorative procedures. Ensure laboratories are safe, functional, and equipped with the necessary materials and resources.
Deliver didactic and laboratory instruction in dental morphology, occlusion, terminology, and foundational restorative concepts. Provide demonstrations, clear instructional guidance, and individualized feedback to support student skill acquisition and readiness for simulation and clinical training.
Develop and administer written examinations, practical assessments, and competency evaluations that measure student proficiency in dental anatomy and pre-clinical restorative skills. Establish grading rubrics and calibration standards and provide structured feedback and remediation support as needed.
Coordinate faculty and instructors participating in the course, ensuring calibration of teaching and evaluation standards.
Mentor junior faculty and adjunct instructors in effective instructional strategies and simulation-based teaching methods.
Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Dental Education and other academic leaders to integrate dental anatomy instruction with restorative dentistry, occlusion, simulation clinic, and subsequent clinical coursework to support students’ progression through the curriculum.
Assist with planning and allocation of resources required for dental anatomy and pre-clinical restorative instruction, including materials, equipment, and laboratory maintenance, ensuring efficient and effective course operations.
Ensure all laboratory activities comply with university policies and regulatory standards related to safety, infection control, equipment use, and educational laboratory practices.
Lead course review and quality improvement initiatives by analyzing student performance data, assessment outcomes, and course evaluations to enhance curriculum effectiveness and instructional quality.
Participate in curriculum committees, accreditation preparation, and academic advising activities, and provide guidance to students regarding course performance and academic progress.
