About The Position

The Director of Counseling/Disability/Career Services serves as a key leader in the Counseling, Disability and Career Services department, overseeing counseling, disability support, and career development initiatives. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering student success, providing accessibility for all students, and helping them navigate academic, personal, and career decisions. Designed to support current and perspective students in discovering which curriculum program or programs are best suited for their learning style, personality type, temperament, values, interest, strengths, weakness, abilities and natural talents for profound academic success. Also responsible for implementing accommodations and specified services for students with physical, intellectual, visual, auditory and mental disabilities, as well as developing pathway success plans for students on Academic or Financial Aid Probation. In addition, the Director of Counseling, Disability and Career Services is responsible for collecting the data needed to access the success of services rendered to students.

Requirements

• Must have completed an approved Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Human Services from an accredited college or university.
• Must have knowledge of the Americans With Disability Act (ADA), Laws and Regulations, cultural diversity, human growth and development, research and program evaluation, academic and career development as well as person/social and professional development for students.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Counseling and Career Services department, aligning it with the institution's goals and mission.
• Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for counseling, disability support, and career services, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
• Develop and present informational, interactive and engaging workshops to faculty, staff (related to disability services laws, etc.) classes and student group including, but not limited to career planning, major selection, resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing, and job search strategies for achieving career goals.
• Provide individual and group counseling services to students, addressing academic, personal, and career-related concerns.
• Ensure that counseling services are accessible and responsive to the diverse needs of students.
• Collaborates with on-campus departments to assure students receive support they need related to financial aid, academic advising, general student services, and other campus resources.
• Administer and interpret career interests’ inventories and assessments.
• Work one to one with students who are attempting to undergo academic and career transitions.
• Must be able to respond as the primary mental health first responder during a crisis, and use de-escalation strategies and nonphysical approaches in preventing and managing disruptive behavior.
• Oversee disability support services, including accommodations and accessibility initiatives.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with legal requirements and promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Develop and maintain resources for career exploration, job search, and career development, including workshops, seminars, and online resources.
• Foster relationships with employers, industry partners, and alumni to facilitate internship and job placement opportunities for students with disabilities.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve counseling and career programs that support students' academic, personal, and career development.
• Collaborate with faculty and administrators to integrate counseling, disability support, and career services into the curriculum and student support systems.
• Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of counseling, disability support, and career programs and services.
• Use data-driven insights to enhance services, accommodations, and make informed decisions.
• Develop and submit and annual budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for counseling, disability services, and career pathways.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards, particularly those related to disability services.
• Prepare and submit reports to college or university administration as required.
• Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to enhance support services, resources, and opportunities for students with disabilities.
• Remove academic holds after working with the student to develop a Success Plan.
• Register students
