About The Position

The Director, Counseling Services provides leadership and oversight of Counseling Services. This position serves as a mental health professional for the College and assists faculty and staff in identifying concerns or problem behaviors with students and/or other individuals on campus. This role provides crisis intervention as needed and coordinates support as appropriate. The Director, Counseling Services serves on the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT), CARE Team, and Sexual Violence Prevention Team. This position develops and coordinates training and activities related to mental health/suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, and domestic violence/sexual assault prevention.

Requirements

Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
Current State of Ohio approved licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and/or a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW).
Requires travel to multiple campus locations; a valid driver's license and/or dependable transportation is required.
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the College for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Crisis counseling: ability to effectively manage mental health crises with sensitivity.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with at-risk youth and or adults and as well as experience in mental health counseling preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides leadership and oversight of Counseling Services.
Provides counseling to students experiencing personal, emotional, academic, or behavioral concerns.
Conducts crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning for students in need.
Completes triage reports on students referred for intervention and makes appropriate referrals to outside agencies, including mental health.
Serves as a resource to faculty and staff on mental health and wellness issues that may influence student behavior.
Coordinates care and support with College resources and community agencies when appropriate.
Assesses success/outcomes of the counseling services provided to faculty, staff, and students.
Participates in professional development opportunities at the state and local level as appropriate.
Develops and facilitates presentations, workshops, and trainings for faculty, staff, and students as needed to support trauma-informed care and student mental health (e.g., QPR Training, Green Bandana Project); ensuring the campus receives suicide prevention resources and training.
Participates on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), CARE Team, and Sexual Violence Prevention Team.
All other duties assigned by supervisor.
