About The Position

The Director of Corporations & Foundations is a senior member of the Sun River Health Foundation with a connected reporting role to the Grants Department, responsible for building and managing a robust portfolio of corporate and foundation funders to advance Sun River Health’s mission of health equity and access. This role leads the organization’s private grants function while cultivating strategic corporate partnerships that generate philanthropic revenue and strengthen Sun River Health’s visibility across its service regions. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Sun River Health Foundation, the Director works collaboratively with Development, Finance, and Program staff to identify funding opportunities, submit compelling proposals, and steward relationships with private and corporate foundation funders at the local, regional, and national levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, public health, communications, or related field preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, with demonstrated success in foundation grants management and corporate development.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex programmatic work into compelling funding narratives.
  • Proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure foundation and corporate gifts.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience with donor databases and grants management systems.
  • Commitment to health equity and the mission of Federally Qualified Health Centers.

  • Experience working in or alongside a healthcare, FQHC, or community health setting.
  • Familiarity with private foundation funding landscapes relevant to health equity, workforce, and underserved populations.
  • Existing relationships with funders in the Hudson Valley, Long Island, or New York City philanthropic community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a comprehensive grants calendar covering all foundation deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal timelines.
  • Write and submit high-quality letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and reports to private foundations and corporate foundations.
  • Collaborate with program and clinical staff to develop compelling funding narratives aligned with funder priorities and Sun River Health’s strategic goals.
  • Track all grant activity in the donor database, maintaining accurate records of submissions, awards, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate grant reporting to maintain strong funder relationships.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate sponsors and partners across Sun River Health’s service regions, including the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New York City.
  • Develop and manage corporate sponsorship packages for Foundation events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Build relationships with corporate leadership, CSR officers, and community affairs teams to align giving priorities with Sun River Health’s programs.
  • Represent Sun River Health at corporate networking events and community convenings to expand the organization’s philanthropic footprint.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of institutional funders, ensuring regular communication, site visits, and engagement.
  • Prepare briefing materials, impact reports, and customized donor communications for foundation and corporate partners.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and VP of Development to engage foundation and corporate funders in major gift conversations and multi-year commitments.
  • Support board members and senior leadership in cultivating institutional relationships.
  • Develop and implement an annual institutional giving strategy with revenue goals and a prospecting pipeline.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new foundation and corporate funding opportunities aligned with Sun River Health’s programmatic priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Events & Donor Relations team to integrate corporate partners into the Foundation’s fundraising events and recognition programs.
  • Contribute to the broader Development team’s planning, reporting, and goal-setting processes.
