About The Position

The Director of Construction for Barcelona Wine Bar will be responsible for managing all aspects of new construction, major renovations, and development projects. The Director of Construction will report directly to the VP of Design and Development.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • 10+ years of experience with construction proposals and bidding

Nice To Haves

  • Restaurant GC, Retail construction or Restaurant construction background is preferred but not required.
  • Hospitality experience is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Associates Degree in Architecture, Construction, or related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and reviewing all GC contracts, applications for payment and change orders
  • Create standard operating procedures for construction
  • Interacting and coordinating with senior leadership, construction professionals and all vendors to provide feedback in order to constantly improve the construction documents
  • Solicit proposals from vendors and contractors, review against company standards and submit for approval
  • Working closely with development department and our on-site General Contractor to ensure all parties have adequate information, documents and details to move projects forward
  • Developing and managing RFPs for professional services and Owner provided vendors
  • Developing and managing CD logs, SK logs and Procurement Logs
  • Helping with the creation of bid estimates for complete costs-to-build
  • Collecting bid packages to review, compare and quantify bidding subcontractors
  • Interact with and support design, construction, facilities, and operations departments
  • Establish project processes and procedures by collaborating with in-house design team and consultants as well as contractors (General, Kitchen Equipment, Signage, Furniture, etc.)
  • Assist in site assessment: building feasibilities (building type, age of building, utilities locations and availability, site access and ADA requirements)
  • Coordinate with local municipal(city/county) as well as utility companies
  • Review lease terms
  • Review construction documents
  • Oversee construction budget, schedule, material, procurement and lead time of OFI items, and quality controls during construction
  • Issue, review and track change orders; construction change directives, field changes, design/engineering changes (architectural/structural/M.E.P. requirements) as well as municipal and /or local utility company requirements
