About The Position

Skillforce has teamed up with a fast growing developer to find a Director of Construction in Fernandina Beach, FL area. We are seeking an experienced Director of Construction to lead construction operations across Florida. This senior leadership role is responsible for project execution, financial performance, team leadership, quality, safety, scheduling, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

10+ years of construction experience with significant leadership responsibility.
Proven experience managing multiple construction projects and project management teams.
Strong understanding of construction financials, scheduling, procurement, contracts, and project controls.
Knowledge of Florida Building Code and Florida-specific construction requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining strong field presence and accountability.

Nice To Haves

Experience with residential construction and/or large-scale construction operations preferred.
Experience with construction management software such as Buildertrend or similar platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage Florida Project Managers and construction personnel.
Oversee the full construction portfolio from preconstruction and permitting through completion, turnover, and warranty.
Develop and manage annual operating plans, budgets, staffing plans, project schedules, and performance goals.
Monitor project profitability, budgets, cost-to-complete, cash flow, change orders, and overall financial performance.
Provide hands-on leadership in the field and ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
Review project schedules, look-ahead plans, staffing, trade performance, procurement, and recovery plans.
Manage trade partners and vendors, including performance evaluations, scope reviews, and replacement decisions.
Ensure compliance with safety requirements, building codes, inspections, quality standards, and applicable Florida regulations.
Partner with preconstruction, purchasing, land development, and other internal teams to ensure projects are fully prepared for construction.
Oversee customer communication, turnover, closeout, warranty, and resolution of significant customer concerns.
Establish and maintain consistent construction processes, documentation, reporting, and project controls.
Conduct regular project and portfolio reviews and report financial performance, risks, staffing, and operational priorities to executive leadership.
Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions to improve project performance and support regional growth.
