About The Position

The Director of Conference Services and Communications directs the Conference Services team, which manages all events and spaces across campus, including the MPAC. This role also coordinates all AV/technology needs for the MPAC, facilitates all on-campus events (both in-house and external), schedules events, and assists departments with event planning. Additionally, the position is responsible for creating and implementing communication strategies aligned with the university's mission and brand guidelines, building and maintaining relationships with media outlets, managing press releases with the President's approval, and creating content for social media, newsletters, Friday Focus, and websites to ensure consistent messaging. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual.

Requirements

  • Strong Christian commitment and adherence to the OCU Community Lifestyle Statement.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Two years of conference services experience preferred.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality.
  • Self-motivated, and organized.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and public speaking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Some weekend work will be required to help manage events.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the Conference Services team, managing all events/spaces across campus including but not limited to the MPAC.
  • Coordinates all AV/technology needs for the MPAC.
  • Facilitates all on campus events both in-house and external.
  • Schedules events and assists each department with those events.
  • Creates and implements communication strategies that align with the mission and brand guidelines.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with media outlets/manages press releases with President's approval.
  • Creates content (as needed) for social media, newsletters, Friday Focus and websites to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Answers and approves event space requests via the calendar, email and phone.
  • Provides excellent and timely customer service.
  • Manages events; setting up, tearing down, event operations, obtaining needed labor, and provide friendly customer service.
  • Plans, organizes, schedules and coordinates events.
  • Communicates with departments and staff within the university and external organizations to coordinate events and other issues related to the conference services set-up and tear down and securing of appropriate A/V personnel to cover event.
  • Oversees student workers in the completion of their tasks.
  • Trains new students.
  • Builds relationships with student workers.
  • Approves student worker/coordinator payroll by deadline of Monday at 10:00 a.m.
  • Processes credit card and bill payments.
  • Performs assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe and efficient manner and with minimal supervision.
