About The Position

Arc of Onondaga is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and strategic Director of Community Residential Services to lead our residential programs serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). As a member of the agency's leadership team, you will oversee the operation of our community residences and supportive apartments, ensuring high-quality, person-centered services while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field and at least five (5) years of experience managing programs serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, OR Master's degree in Human Services or a related field and at least three (3) years of experience managing programs serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, quality assurance, incident management, and residential program operations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn agency software systems.
  • Valid New York State driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier.
  • Ability to drive agency vehicles as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all Community Residential Services programs.
  • Supervise, coach, and support Program Managers and other direct reports.
  • Ensure programs operate in compliance with all applicable state, federal, and agency regulations and policies.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, oversee incident management, and respond to internal and external audits.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Facilities, Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to support agency-wide goals.
  • Oversee residential admissions and work with community partners to ensure successful placements.
  • Monitor program quality, safety, staffing, and service delivery to promote positive outcomes for individuals supported.
  • Assist with department budgeting and resource management.
  • Prepare reports and analyze program trends to support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the Administrator-on-Duty on-call rotation and provide leadership during emergencies.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, respect, and person-centered care.
