About The Position

Mohawk Valley Community College provides accessible, high-quality educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs of our students. The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Director of Community and Workforce Development in our Corporate and Community Education Department. The Director of Community and Workforce Development provides oversight of workforce development efforts at the College in collaboration with Academic Affairs administrators and others. They work closely with the Executive Dean of Community and Workforce Development and others to develop community partnerships that lead to inter-agency collaborations and strategic community development efforts. The Director is responsible for directing programs, activities, personnel, mission, and overall effective operation of the Center for Corporate and Community Education (CCED).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative experience

  • Experience in developing continuing education programs at the college level
  • Skill in planning, budgeting, marketing, scheduling and client-centered management
  • Skill in writing and closing proposals

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the objectives, operation, and accountability of all functions in the CCED.
  • Develops and supports a culture that prioritizes student completion, success and career placement.
  • Provides for a sound and business-like approach to market analysis, proposal development, proposal closure, and quality maintenance.
  • Provides quality service to the community based on an assessment of need and a well-conceived and well-executed means of meeting identified needs of businesses, agencies, and community groups.
  • Maintains a credible and reliable presence in the College and in the community for community and workforce development.
  • Leads the CCED in developing a Business Plan, including specific objectives for CCED activity each semester or other appropriate interval.
  • Serves as CCED’s major contact person representing the College.
  • Responsible for the development and management of multiple funding streams through complex budgetary systems to support credit and non-credit community and workforce development programming.
  • Supervises, schedules and evaluates CCED personnel.
  • Works closely with academic deans, faculty, and staff to facilitate cooperation, participation, and effective communication in the interest of meeting common goals.
  • Works closely with the College’s institutional advancement office to obtain grants on behalf of the MVCC Foundation to provide funding for CCED programming, as well as coordinate efforts to maximize relationships with the intersection of workforce development and donor cultivation.
  • Performs such other appropriate duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Dean of Community and Workforce Development.
