About The Position

Meister Cheese is a fourth-generation, family-owned cheese and whey producer based in Muscoda, Wisconsin. Since 1916, they have built their reputation on award-winning cheese, long-standing customer relationships, responsible growth, and a deep commitment to doing business with integrity. Meister is entering an exciting new phase of growth, and they are looking for a driven, strategic sales leader to help expand their food service, ingredient, industrial, and commercial partnership business. This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important growth segment, build meaningful customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and help create the structure needed to support long-term success. The Director of Commercial Sales – Food Service & Ingredient will lead and grow Meister Cheese’s commercial sales efforts across food service, ingredient, industrial, and strategic partnership channels. This person will be responsible for developing new business, strengthening existing accounts, improving commercial processes, and working closely with internal teams to align customer needs with production capabilities, forecasting, pricing, and profitability goals. The right candidate will be both strategic and hands-on. They will know how to build relationships, ask the right questions, understand customer needs, and turn opportunities into sustainable business.

Requirements

  • Proven sales experience in food service, ingredient sales, dairy, cheese, manufacturing, distribution, or related industries
  • Strong B2B sales, account management, pricing, negotiation, forecasting, and customer relationship experience
  • Experience working with distributors, food manufacturers, converters, food service accounts, or commercial buyers
  • Ability to develop and execute growth strategies in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across operations, quality, finance, customer service, and leadership
  • Comfort using CRM systems, forecasting tools, and sales reporting processes
  • Ability to travel 30–40% of the time, with potential to evolve as the segment grows

Responsibilities

  • Lead growth strategy for Meister Cheese’s food service, ingredient, industrial, and commercial partnership segments
  • Identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities with food manufacturers, distributors, converters, food service accounts, and strategic partners
  • Strengthen relationships with existing customers while uncovering opportunities for additional volume and long-term growth
  • Partner with the VP of Sales and internal teams to align sales strategy with capacity, production planning, forecasting, quality, and profitability
  • Help build structure around account ownership, customer communication, pricing processes, forecasting, and commercial reporting
  • Serve as a key connection point between customers, sales, operations, quality, finance, and leadership
  • Bring market insight, customer feedback, and growth opportunities back to the organization in a clear and actionable way
