About The Position

Highline Premier FC (HPFC) is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking Director of Coaching to lead the club's technical vision, coaching standards, and player-development framework. As HPFC's senior soccer leader, this role is responsible for establishing a consistent, player-centered approach across all teams and programs. The Director of Coaching directly supervises HPFC's Boys and Girls Directors of Coaching, providing leadership, standards, support, and accountability for the entire coaching staff. This position collaborates closely with the Executive Director, program directors, coaching staff, and operations team to ensure a high-quality developmental experience for players aged U8 through U19. The ideal candidate will possess strong soccer leadership skills, the ability to set a clear technical direction, develop coaches and program leaders, build trust with players and families, and translate the club's mission into consistent daily practice.

Requirements

• U.S. Soccer National B License or equivalent
• At least seven years of competitive youth soccer coaching experience
• Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, or developing professional coaching staff
• Experience creating or implementing a club-wide curriculum and player-development framework
• Strong understanding of long-term player development and age-appropriate coaching practices
• Experience overseeing player identification, evaluation, tryouts, and roster formation
• Strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills
• Ability to provide direct, constructive, and actionable feedback to coaches and program leaders
• Ability to communicate professionally with players, families, staff, volunteers, and external partners
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and player or club management platforms
• Ability to complete all required background checks, SafeSport training, and risk-management requirements
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification within a timeframe established by HPFC
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to reside in Washington State by the start of employment
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Establish, communicate, and maintain HPFC's club-wide technical vision, developmental philosophy, curriculum, and playing principles.
• Ensure technical and developmental standards are consistently applied across boys' and girls' programs, age groups, leagues, and levels of competition.
• Develop and maintain a clear player pathway from the club's youngest teams through its senior competitive programs.
• Provide strategic leadership for the continued growth and improvement of HPFC's soccer programs.
• Evaluate emerging coaching methods, player-development practices, and soccer technologies for appropriate use within the club.
• Ensure program directors and coaches understand how their work supports HPFC's mission, curriculum, and development model.
• Maintain alignment across teams competing in Elite Academy, RCL, WPL, and other approved competitions.
• Directly supervise, support, and evaluate the Boys and Girls Directors of Coaching.
• Establish clear goals, responsibilities, and performance expectations for each program director.
• Conduct regular individual meetings with direct reports to review staffing, team performance, player development, and emerging program concerns.
• Support program directors in managing coaches, resolving performance issues, and implementing club standards.
• Coordinate work across the boys' and girls' programs to prevent isolation, duplication, or conflicting expectations.
• Develop leadership capacity among program directors and other potential future club leaders.
• Provide recommendations to the Executive Director regarding program structure, staffing, compensation, and leadership needs.
• Maintain responsibility for the quality, performance, development, and professional conduct of HPFC's coaching staff.
• Establish a consistent club-wide process for coach observation, evaluation, feedback, and professional development.
• Conduct direct observations of coaches and support program directors in completing regular coach evaluations.
• Develop improvement plans when coaches are not meeting club expectations.
• Lead or coordinate coach-education workshops, staff meetings, mentorship opportunities, and collaborative learning activities.
• Establish coaching-license expectations and support continued coaching education.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, assignment, retention, and separation of coaches.
• Ensure coaching assignments reflect player needs, coach qualifications, team level, and organizational priorities.
• Promote a coaching culture grounded in professionalism, accountability, collaboration, respect, and continued learning.
• Ensure compliance with SafeSport, background-check, risk-management, licensing, and club-training requirements.
• Develop and maintain a year-round, age-appropriate curriculum aligned with HPFC's technical and philosophical standards.
• Establish clear learning objectives and developmental priorities for each age group and stage of the player pathway.
• Provide program directors and coaches with practical tools, session plans, educational resources, and implementation guidance.
• Monitor curriculum implementation through training observations, staff conversations, and program reviews.
• Adapt curriculum expectations appropriately for team level, training frequency, competition environment, and player needs.
• Ensure goalkeeper development, athletic development, and position-specific training are integrated into the broader curriculum.
• Review and update the curriculum based on player outcomes, coach feedback, and developments within the game.
• Oversee HPFC's club-wide approach to player evaluation, placement, advancement, and long-term development.
• Establish consistent standards and processes for tryouts, roster formation, player movement, and seasonal assessments.
• Ensure players and families receive useful, developmentally appropriate feedback.
• Support program directors and coaches in identifying players who may benefit from higher levels of training or competition.
• Help create pathways into Elite Academy, collegiate soccer, regional identification, national identification, and other appropriate opportunities.
• Monitor player-development, participation, and retention trends across the club.
• Evaluate whether team and competition placements are serving the developmental needs of players.
• Promote a player-centered approach that balances development, appropriate competition, accountability, and enjoyment of the game.
• Clearly communicate HPFC's player-development philosophy, competitive pathways, coaching expectations, and technical standards.
• Support program directors and coaches in communicating effectively with players and families.
• Participate in family education sessions, club meetings, and program presentations.
• Address significant technical or coaching concerns that cannot be resolved at the team or program-director level.
• Represent HPFC professionally with leagues, governing bodies, partner clubs, schools, and community organizations.
• Support community programming and initiatives that expand access to high-quality soccer experiences.
• Build trust through clear, consistent, and honest communication.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director on annual planning, staffing models, program budgets, and strategic priorities.
• Provide regular reports regarding coaching performance, program health, player development, staffing needs, and technical initiatives.
• Work with administrative and operations staff on team formation, scheduling, league participation, tournaments, camps, and seasonal programming.
• Ensure coaching staff appropriately use PlayMetrics and other required club systems.
• Maintain accurate records related to coach licensing, evaluations, player-development processes, and program performance.
• Participate in leadership meetings, strategic planning, and other club-wide initiatives.
• Assist with the preparation and implementation of annual tryouts and team formation.
• Support responsible management of coaching payroll, education expenses, equipment, and program resources.
