Steel Sports is a Social Impact organization dedicated to inspiring youth to reach their potential through its coaching system, “The Lasorda Way”. The organization creates positive youth sports experiences for over 100,000 athletes annually, operating Steel Soccer, Steel Baseball, and Softball. This specific role is for a Soccer Teams Director to support the Washington region, overseeing all teams within that area. The position reports to a Senior leader within the organization and involves direct interaction with personnel at all organizational levels.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working with children.
  • Prior knowledge of the fundamentals of soccer.
  • Be responsible, flexible, hard-working, ethical, and committed to the mission of Steel Sports.
  • Successfully complete the application and screening process.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply principles of quality youth development.
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.
  • Active engagement with and supervision of children requiring physical stamina, alertness, and emotional stability.
  • Have a general understanding of and proficiency with computer technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Have a growth mindset for continuous improvement in all aspects of the position.

  • Candidates must have access to consistently reliable transportation.

  • Preferred candidate would have an accredited 'A' License, 'B' License or equivalent experience in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and approve Steel Sports budgets during the budget planning process, working with VP of Teams, SVP of Teams and Steel Sports CFO.
  • Monitor and execute the financial budgets of each individual team and the club at large.
  • Oversee player registration and fee collection.
  • Oversee the Assistant Teams Directors and all individual Head and Assistant Coaches.
  • Work with Assistant Teams Directors and coaches to maintain positive on and off-field results.
  • Liaise with Senior Leadership on National Programs.
  • Attend an annual summit with all the Regional Teams Directors.
  • Liaise with VP, Teams regularly to discuss agenda topics.
  • Plan and execute annual performance reviews with Assistant Teams Directors and coaches.
  • Lead the hiring committee for Assistant Teams Directors and coaches.
  • Work alongside VP, Teams, and Brand and Communication Office to plan, implement, and execute sales, marketing, and advertising campaigns.
  • Devise new methods to market the club and reach new potential families.
  • Devise, implement, and execute plans to grow the current club and reach new families.
  • Identify clubs, directors, and coaches that are a cultural fit with Steel Sports.
  • Work alongside the Social Impact Office to create new ideas to integrate the Steel Sports mission, vision, and core values.
  • Represent Steel Sports locally at conferences and summits.
  • Develop, implement, and execute fundraising events in association with the Social Impact Office.
  • Host annual town hall events with families to gauge feedback.
  • Follow the Social Impact Office's recommended social impact plan for the local area.
  • Develop a strategic short, medium, and long term plan for the local Steel Sports club.
  • Oversee the club's social media output and evaluate content.
  • Determine appropriate social media content and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Communicate specific programs and national initiatives directly to families.
  • Work with the Brand and Communication office to plan, implement, and maintain the club website.
  • Work with Steel Sports partners to execute partnership activations.
  • Assist with finding local partnerships/sponsorships.
  • Work with Senior Leadership to identify potential partners and/or sponsors.
  • Establish best practices across all teams in the club.
  • Evaluate each team annually to determine and ensure adherence to club and national best practices.
  • Utilize universal operational materials for the Teams product.
  • Oversee the scheduling of practices, leagues, and tournaments.
  • Plan and oversee the execution of tryouts and lead player selection and placement.
  • Oversee equipment needs for the club and work with the National Operations Manager for ordering.
  • Oversee the operations of the uniform process according to national policies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement amongst coaches and ensure compliance with safety and coaching system requirements.
  • Oversee and support the Team Steel Coach Developer to assure implementation of the Steel Sports Coaching System and Team Steel LTAD Plan.
  • Coordinate with coaches to ensure effective communication of expectations, rules, and schedules to players and parents, emphasizing core values and LTAD.
  • Work with the VP of Player, Coach, and Curriculum Development to implement Steel Sports rituals.
  • Coach teams based on the needs of the region.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
