Evinova is seeking a Director of Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps to lead the architecture and operations of its AWS cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and developer platform. This role is crucial for shaping the foundation that powers next-generation digital products for clinical trials and patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps.
  • At least 5 years in a people management role leading teams of meaningful size.
  • Deep, hands-on experience designing and operating production workloads in AWS.
  • Extensive AWS networking expertise.
  • Significant experience with Kubernetes (preferably EKS) and ECS Fargate, container orchestration, service mesh, and operational practices for containerized workloads.
  • Strong background in IaC tooling (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or similar).
  • Proven track record of building and improving CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer experience at an organizational level.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-powered engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate infrastructure development and automate operational workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud cost governance practices and ability to partner on spend visibility and optimization.
  • Experience building, scaling, and leading infrastructure or platform teams.
  • Comfortable operating at the director level, influencing strategy, presenting to senior leadership, and making tradeoffs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or similarly regulated environments (GxP, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
  • Familiarity with compliance and validation requirements in regulated environments.
  • Experience navigating the unique regulatory, architectural, and operational considerations of running cloud infrastructure in China.
  • Familiarity with AWS China Regions (operated by Sinnet/NWCD), data residency requirements, and differences in service availability and compliance.
  • Experience with Alibaba Cloud or other non-AWS cloud providers.
  • Experience designing and operating multi-cloud environments.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certification.
  • Experience with multi-account AWS strategies (AWS Organizations, Control Tower, Landing Zones).
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring stacks (Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar).
  • Experience with security-focused infrastructure practices (Zero Trust, secrets management, compliance automation).
  • Background in SaaS product companies, particularly B2B or enterprise SaaS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of approximately 15 engineers, serving as the technical and organizational leader for cloud infrastructure and DevOps.
  • Operate at both strategic and tactical levels, with hands-on experience in building and running cloud infrastructure organizations.
  • Review IaC templates and debug networking issues.
  • Set team strategy and present to senior leadership.
  • Take full ownership of the AWS environment, including account strategy, compute, storage, and security baseline.
  • Own the design and operation of the network architecture in AWS, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, PrivateLink, Route 53, load balancing (ALB/NLB), Network Firewall, and hybrid connectivity patterns.
  • Define and evolve architectural patterns for building and running workloads in AWS, with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes (EKS) and container-based architectures.
  • Develop and execute strategy for deployment pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or similar), release management, and developer tooling.
  • Own the developer platform, including internal tools, workflows, and self-service capabilities for engineering teams.
  • Reduce friction, improve developer productivity, and ensure the platform empowers engineers.
  • Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team.
  • Set the technical bar, coach engineers, and create a positive work environment.
  • Own the multi-cloud approach, defining strategy, evaluating providers, and ensuring infrastructure can operate across cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with the ML Operations team to enable AI infrastructure for AI/ML workloads, model training, and inference.
  • Partner with the Platform Operations team on Cloud FinOps, including cost optimization, budgeting, and financial accountability for AWS spend.
  • Bring infrastructure-level insight into cost drivers and support showback and chargeback practices.
