About The Position

The Director of Clinical Operations is a senior clinical leader responsible for driving excellence in patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational performance across multiple skilled nursing and long-term care facilities within Optalis Healthcare. This role partners closely with the Vice President of Clinical Services to ensure consistent execution of clinical standards, support and develop nursing leadership, and improve quality outcomes across the organization. The Director of Clinical Operations serves as a key resource for Directors of Nursing (DONs) and Regional Clinical Services Directors, providing mentorship, guidance, and hands-on operational support.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
  • 5–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in long-term care or skilled nursing
  • Multi-facility leadership experience (e.g., Regional Nurse Consultant, Regional Director)
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations and survey processes
  • Proven ability to drive clinical outcomes and lead teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMS Quality Measures and Five-Star programs
  • Expertise in infection prevention and control
  • Knowledge of MDS, PDPM, and reimbursement processes
  • Demonstrated success in survey readiness and regulatory compliance
  • Leadership coaching experience with DONs and ADONs

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze clinical quality measures and key performance indicators
  • Review incident, accident, and risk trends; implement corrective strategies
  • Provide oversight and guidance on infection prevention and control practices
  • Conduct and oversee clinical audits to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards
  • Lead survey readiness efforts across assigned facilities
  • Conduct mock surveys and compliance reviews
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Plans of Correction (POCs)
  • Prepare facilities for state and federal surveys, including CMS compliance
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of Michigan LARA survey expectations and CMS regulations
  • Mentor, coach, and develop Directors of Nursing and Assistant Directors of Nursing
  • Support onboarding and orientation of new DONs
  • Provide targeted intervention and support to underperforming or high-risk facilities
  • Foster leadership accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
  • Partner with Administrators, HR, and operational leaders to address staffing challenges
  • Support development and execution of staffing strategies to ensure clinical stability
  • Collaborate across departments to align clinical and operational priorities
  • Lead and support implementation of quality improvement programs, including: Falls reduction, Infection prevention and control, Hospital readmission reduction, Pressure injury prevention
  • Track outcomes and ensure sustainability of improvements
