About The Position

The Director of Clinical Services (DCS) is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and performance of clinical operations for Suite Living Hospice Care. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and patient-centered hospice services aligned with state, federal, and Medicare regulations. As a key clinical leader, the DCS oversees and supports a team of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), drives quality and compliance initiatives, and partners with leadership on strategic and operational priorities. This role maintains a small caseload (4–5 patients) to stay closely connected to clinical care and team needs.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota, in good standing
  • Minimum of 3 years of hospice experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, interdisciplinary care, and end-of-life best practices
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and manage clinical operations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license with reliable, insured transportation
  • Current CPR certification

  • Experience with QAPI programs, infection control, and regulatory survey processes
  • Experience balancing clinical leadership with operational and business responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to RNs and CNAs
  • Serve as a clinical resource for complex care planning, symptom management, and decision-making
  • Participate in an on-call leadership rotation (approximately 5 days per month)
  • Maintain a small hospice caseload to remain actively engaged in patient care
  • Foster a culture rooted in hospice philosophy, compassion, accountability, and collaboration
  • Lead bi-weekly Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings to ensure coordinated, compliant care delivery
  • Partner with the Medical Director and intake team on patient eligibility, admissions, and care planning
  • Promote strong communication across all disciplines to support patient and family outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and Medicare hospice regulations
  • Lead and support survey readiness and any required plans of correction
  • Conduct routine chart audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Oversee infection control processes and reporting
  • Actively contribute to QAPI initiatives, including data analysis, trend identification, and performance improvement planning
  • Lead onboarding, training, and competency validation for clinical staff
  • Partner with leadership on recruiting, interviewing, and hiring clinical team members
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance management
  • Support continuing education and professional development initiatives
  • Oversee clinical-related operations including DME, supplies, and pharmacy coordination
  • Monitor clinical utilization and resource management to balance quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaborate with leadership on operational planning, growth, and process improvement
  • Support development and ongoing refinement of policies and procedures
  • Contribute to organizational initiatives and leadership projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business and clinical goals
