Director of Clinical Project Management & Implementation
About The Position
The Director of Clinical Project Management & Implementation leads the multidisciplinary planning and implementation of new medical technologies, equipment, and clinical solutions approved through the organization's Value Analysis Team. This position serves as the central project-management resource coordinating Clinical Operations, Nursing, Physicians, Information Technology, Clinical Engineering/Biomed, Facilities, Supply Chain, Finance, Infection Prevention, Education, vendors, and other hospital departments to ensure projects are successfully implemented from approval through go-live and operational handoff. The Project Director is responsible for project governance, stakeholder coordination, timelines, dependencies, site and operational readiness, risk management, communication, implementation, and project closeout. This builds upon the multidisciplinary project leadership, site-readiness, risk-management, and implementation responsibilities identified in the existing Position Responsibilities.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related clinical field required.
- Healthcare experience implementing medical equipment, clinical technology, capital equipment, or other complex hospital initiatives.
- Experience working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, IT, Facilities, Clinical Engineering, Supply Chain, vendors, and executive leadership.
- Familiarity with healthcare project-management systems and methodologies.
Nice To Haves
- Current Registered Nurse Licensure preferred.
- PMP, CAPM, Lean Six Sigma, change-management, or other relevant certification preferred.
- Bargaining/Nursing background is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary implementation projects for Value Analysis-approved medical equipment, technology, and clinical solutions.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, RACI matrices, risk logs, action items, and implementation schedules.
- Identify required stakeholders and establish clear roles, responsibilities, deliverables, and decision-making processes.
- Coordinate requirements and dependencies across Clinical, IT, Clinical Engineering, Facilities, Supply Chain, Finance, Infection Prevention, Education, and other departments.
- Conduct project kickoff meetings, stakeholder meetings, site-readiness assessments, implementation reviews, and go-live readiness meetings.
- Coordinate site, infrastructure, IT/network, cybersecurity, Clinical Engineering, operational, workflow, and education requirements.
- Manage vendor activities, including project schedules, installation coordination, technical requirements, training, and implementation deliverables.
- Identify project risks, barriers, and dependencies; develop mitigation plans and escalate issues that could impact scope, schedule, budget, or clinical operations.
- Coordinate clinical and operational readiness, including staff education, supplies, workflow changes, support plans, and communication.
- Lead go-live planning and ensure all required clinical, technical, operational, and infrastructure activities are completed before implementation.
- Monitor projects through stabilization, complete post-implementation reviews, document lessons learned, and transition responsibility to operational owners.
- Provide concise project status reporting and escalation to departmental and executive leadership.
