About The Position

The Director of Clinical Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, integration, and performance of clinical programming across the organization. This position operates at a director/executive level, driving organizational effectiveness through data-informed decision-making, program development, fiscal stewardship, and operational excellence. The Director ensures the seamless integration of clinical, nursing, allied health, case management, and engagement services to deliver high-quality, person-centered care. This role is accountable for achieving measurable outcomes, meeting organizational deadlines, and holding leadership staff accountable to performance expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare or residential services, with significant director-level responsibility.
  • Proven experience managing multiple departments and overseeing managers in a complex care environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, budget management, and program development.
  • Strong knowledge of Michigan regulatory systems, including MDHHS and CMH.
  • Exceptional leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
  • Experience supporting, I/DD and TBI populations in an Adult Foster Care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, planning, and decision-making.
  • Prepare and present high-level, data-driven reports, KPIs, and operational analyses to executive leadership with a high degree of accuracy and readiness.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives that align clinical and residential services with organizational goals, growth priorities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous program enhancement through innovation, outcome measurement, and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide executive oversight and integration of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure coordinated, interdisciplinary service delivery across all programs, promoting continuity of care and optimal resident outcomes.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics, ensuring programs meet utilization, quality, and outcome targets.
  • Oversee development, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical programming.
  • Directly manage and develop departmental leaders, including Nursing, Therapy, Case Management and Activities Managers.
  • Establish clear expectations, enforce accountability, and ensure timely completion of deliverables and organizational priorities.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on results, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Hold leadership staff accountable for meeting deadlines, maintaining compliance, and achieving program outcomes.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee departmental budgets with strong fiscal accountability.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective strategies to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Align financial planning with program needs, census targets, and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, with specific expertise in Michigan requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge and demonstrate competence with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Community Mental Health (CMH) systems.
  • Partner with external agencies, payers, and stakeholders to support program success and regulatory alignment.
  • Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to ensure excellence in care delivery and outcomes.
  • Establish systems to ensure timely, accurate documentation and reporting to support billing, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring all departments meet or exceed benchmarks.
  • Drive a culture of disciplined execution, ensuring all programs consistently meet established deadlines and performance standards.
