About The Position

The Director of Clinical Development is responsible for assessing and supporting the development and culture of the clinical staff within each of Sholom’s licensed buildings and programs. The Director of Clinical Development may also provide interim leadership for clinical roles within the organization as requested. The position utilizes skills in planning, organizing, developing, evaluating and effectively directing clinical staff and programs in order to ensure the ongoing delivery of high-quality resident care and services, consistent with regulations and Sholom Standards. The Director of Clinical Development has responsibility as a member of the leadership team to participate in the planning and implementation of strategies and programming that assures high quality resident care while achieving short-term operational goals and objectives for the sites and programs.

Requirements

Currently unrestricted Minnesota licensure as a Registered Nurse and must maintain licensure.
CPR Certification required.
Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements for long-term care or Assisted Living, or Home and Community Based Services. Demonstrated successful working knowledge of regulatory compliance.
Show professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards.

Display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
Understand and maintain confidential nature of organization and client information in accordance to HIPAA regulations and corporate compliance standards, including appropriate access of data housed within the Information Technology infrastructure.
Possess effective problem-solving skills.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, HRIS, Medical Records and other applications. Must be skilled in database management and record keeping.
Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization in accordance with our PROUD standards.
Able to understand and follow facility and department safety and emergency procedures.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
3-5 years’ experience as Director of Nursing/Clinical Administrator in long-term care or Home Care preferred.
Experience in health care management and operations, OASIS and/or MDS assessment processes, quality management, staff development, resident and family support systems and community outreach preferred.
Experience in gerontological nursing, rehabilitative and restorative clinical practices preferred

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the VP of Clinical Services, assess the culture and competency of clinical service delivery within the assigned building or program.
Research, develop and implement clinical competency development.
Establish training needs and options for emerging nurse leaders.
Identify training needs based on quality data.
Provide coaching, training and support to nurse leaders and direct care clinical staff across the organization.
Support communities with staffing or leadership vacancies. Direct the operations of the assigned interim Nursing department, including supervision and development of staff.
Coordinate and oversee resident care delivery.
Lead and manage the department, participating in performance management and corrective action when necessary.
Participate in the interview and hiring process to ensure quality services are provided.
Practice conflict resolution between residents, staff, families, community members, and other disciplines (i.e. Hospice, Rehabilitation Therapy, doctors, nurse practitioners, etc.).
Serve as a clinical resource to staff regarding nursing care of residents. Provide in-service education to staff as required.
Serve as the resident’s advocate to achieve the residents highest, purposeful self, create and maintain and environment that achieves high quality care (Physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) of residents and maintain their independence and dignity to highest degree (supporting their individual plan of care) possible within the Sholom continuum while providing direction and education consistent with regulations.
Support the Vice President of Clinical Services to ensure the proper execution of clinical operations and strategies.
Actively participate in developing and drafting protocols and amendments.
Research, develop and implement new clinical policies and ensure existing policies are effective, efficient and successfully integrated throughout the organization.
Support clinical teams in monitoring for the ongoing implementation and effectiveness of clinical systems and maintain state and federal standards and regulatory compliance across the organization according to the individual program requirements.
Provide status reports to the Vice President of Clinical Services relative to clinical progress and outcomes across the organization.
Monitors trends in regulatory compliance, serves as a resource in compliance activities.
As assigned, monitors and assist in the development of clinical staffing models and structure across the organization.
Supports the strategic planning process for clinical services.
Provides clinical leadership support to the site teams to implement operational strategies and achieve organizational objectives.
Use knowledge of professional standards of nursing practice, consistent with facility philosophy of care, staff policies and adult education principles.
Support various other Nursing responsibilities such as RN on call support as needed.
