About The Position

The Director of Class Giving is responsible for the overall strategy, implementation, and management of all USMA class gift campaigns. This role serves as the primary fundraising advisor for a portfolio of reunion classes while providing strategic leadership for all class gift campaigns. The Director works closely with class leaders and volunteers to develop and implement fundraising strategies that align alumni philanthropic interests with the highest priorities of the United States Military Academy and the West Point Association of Graduates. The Director also oversees the First-Class Gift Program, helping educate cadets on the importance of philanthropy and lifelong engagement with West Point. This position requires strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities, along with outstanding verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate must be an accomplished relationship builder who enjoys working with volunteers, donors, and institutional leaders while leading a collaborative, high-performing team. The incumbent must be goal-oriented and capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and exceptional leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Eight to ten years of progressively responsible fundraising, advancement, nonprofit leadership, or related management experience required.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accomplished relationship builder.
  • Ability to work with volunteers, donors, and institutional leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Overall strategy, implementation, and management of all USMA class gift campaigns.
  • Establish departmental priorities.
  • Oversee campaign planning and execution.
  • Manage the department's operating budget.
  • Achieve annual goals related to class cash receipts, new pledges, and alumni participation.
  • Serve as the primary fundraising advisor for a portfolio of reunion classes.
  • Provide strategic leadership for all class gift campaigns.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies in collaboration with class leaders and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with Major & Leadership Gift Officers, Annual Giving, Communications & Marketing, Alumni Support, Finance, Athletics, and Academy leadership.
  • Oversee the First-Class Gift Program in partnership with the First-Class Gift Program Manager.
