About The Position

RQC, LLC is a full-service Design-Build firm specializing in accelerated, ground-up commercial construction, with a primary emphasis on Department of Defense work. They deliver projects from $30 million to over $100 million across the United States and U.S. territories. The firm is seeking a Director of Civil Engineering to lead their Civil Engineering Department in Jacksonville, Florida. This leadership role is responsible for guiding the overall direction, performance, and growth of the civil engineering team while ensuring the successful execution of Department of Defense projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with military design standards, site development, interdisciplinary coordination, and team leadership. This position plays a key role in advancing the firm's engineering capabilities while supporting the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values. RQ fosters a collaborative environment where engineers, designers, and construction professionals work together to solve complex challenges and deliver exceptional results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • At least 15 years of experience in civil/site design
  • Experience using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, InfoDrainage, or equivalent platforms
  • Understanding of federal project delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build (DBB), Design-Build (DB), and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) in compliance with FAR requirements
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and permitting processes
  • Willingness to travel to project locations when required
  • Provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
  • Successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base (if applicable for position being hired for).
